Notes from someone who has spent a lot of time using the Cryo Pods: - Once you remove them from the pods, scarves are safe to put on, but winter coats, boots, and hardsuits must stay off until they warm up. Otherwise they are insulated from the warm air in the station and will freeze to death in their suits. - You can technically take people to 540kPA, but they get the high pressure warnings and might get cranky. 380 kPA is the highest safe pressure that won't set off alarm bells and gives you a bit of wiggle room for slimes/the game being weird and adding additonal pressure. - The cold damage is overblown, even lizards chilled to max with a regular freezer don't take more than a 10u injection of Derma to heal up. - You can shove any chemical into a beaker and the cryopod will inject it. So if someone has a bunch of missing blood, you can put a small amount saline/copper/iron in a beaker and shove it in while they're still cooling.

I would like to say that the cryo pod injects ALL chems, not just cryo meds, its slower then a syringe sure, but you can just easily mix chems together to have them metabolize in parallel, if a patient has a lot of slash? Put 10u's of lace and fill the rest up with cryox, this works particularly well with mixes with derma, as 10u of derma will prevent patients nearly crit from taking killing cold damage before the cryo kicks in, as well as can help alleviate cold damage after patients are ejected from the pod
@VarenvelDarakus9 ай бұрын
Leprozarine is commonly made on servers like delta by chems but i not seen them use cryo healing often , its wierd becouse on paper it seams this would be superior healing and everyone should use it , but problem is it requires operator to know quite few things it is worth noting any space variant (kangoroo , spider , bear) also bleeds cyro meaning you could drain/milk them for infinite healing as for omnizine , you can get botanist to grow deux if i recall (on one of shifts on delta that helped a lot during zombies as i could make ambuzol plus) but necrosol sounds incredibly useful , if by chance you can mass produce it with botany help you can finaly get these super injuired people back also fun fact necrosol is only way to bring someone back when got has 196 poison damage and above
@pinkpanther13959 ай бұрын
As someone who plays a good bit of medical I just want to say that the biggest problem with cryo is that is is much slower than injecting, especially for the CMO since they have the hypo. If you have a competent chem who makes and labels advanced meds its very easy to just give what the patiant needs quickly and move to the next. Also, it is very rare for people to in with a large varity of damage types so it is much more efficient to just use a specialized medicine for it.
@thebadman61699 ай бұрын
If someone got gigafucked by single brute damage then yeah, but otherwise usually freezing someone and slamming that beaker in 5 seconds is pretty good, you do not even need to scan and can easily treat 5+ people at same time with 2 cryo pods, not to mention you can treat cancer without any risk of vomiting. That said if someone is in medbay and not field AND chemlab does not have infinite carbon network secured yet, you might still want to cryo because if you overuse advanced meds when you don't need them you might not have them when you do.

9:48 as cool as Aloxadone is, it unfortunately does not heal Cold, the dmg that space mainly does, so you would be better off using the aloe to make Regenerative meshes (recipe for which you can find in that chef recipes site you pointed out), also medibots inject Inaprovaline, not Epinephrine, into crit people, but that rarely matters so whatever

With a bit of atmos knowledge and a condenser, atmos can mass produce cryoxadone fairly easily by essentially following the chem recipe and applying it to the gaseous counterparts (oxygen, plasma, water vapor). This can yield incredible amounts and will make chemists love/hate you when you show up with duffelbags full of buckets.

I had a question about Insuzine: In the wiki it says without OD it will remove 5,000J of heat from the body, with OD, 30,000J; additionally in the description of Insuzine it says “Completely freezes the patient when overdosed.” In theory, can I use Cryoxidone without a cryopod via Insuzine? Might come back later to add an addendum because I think I’m going to perform an experiment (on myself) next time I’m a chemist. P.S I did an experiment with my CMO and our first experiment of 15u of insulzine and 15u of Cryoxodone didn’t result in any healing (albeit it was partially interrupted by a gray tider beating me up to crit because the CMO said insul for insulzine and the tider thought they meant I had gloves, shouldn’t have changed the result) Now the second experiment saw results, When injecting 30u of insulzine and 15u of Cryoxodone, I, for a short bit, saw healing, not much though. I concluded with experiment 2 that in order for a person to be healed with Cryoxodone with Insulzine you’re going to need at least 45u of Insulzine and 15u or more of Cryoxodone. So very impractical.

I've seen some doctors go as high as 540kPA. You basically get an instant freeze, but you also run the risk of killing your patient before you can put the cryox in. 200-250kPA is fine I'd also personally recommend lowering the waste filter LPM to 100L/S as a preemptive action against any atmo pipe pressure weirdness Cryo is really good at taking care of annoying damage types like caustic and genetic, and with a cooperative botanist (Aloxadone) is the best way to treat people with enormous burn damage Last but not least, mind your manners! Scan your patients before putting them in and only use as much cryox as is necessary. And don't just snatch patients from other medbay personnel

as a heads up, takeing the person out of the pod before the cryoxodone is fully gone is important, as it means they will automatically heal the cold damage while they warm back up, up to when they naturally are warm enough the stop takeing damage from cold anyway, o rits so minor they simply dont need to worry, dont let them sit in the pod while it wears off, as the pod will keep them frozen until it wears off, meaning they will be takeing damage the entire time there warming back up, this is INCREDIBLY bad for lizards who will take easyily 50-80 damage warming back up by the time they get back to a safe temp, this also means you should take them out when they have a light damage remaining, as the cryox will finish metabolizeing and healing them of it while they finish warming back up anyway make sure you take off there hardsuits, winter clothes, or fire suits, in order for them to properly get cold, or they just sit in the pod and simply dont get cold in any reasonble time frame, if at all, necrosol is basically cryox but can effect dead bodys, the ONLY real reason for this is to bring back severely damaged bodys that have damage that cant be healed with topicals, AKA mass poison or caustic damage, its generally a very expensive nieche options compared to any other medicine, but if you get a good botantist crew who supplies you with plenty of omnizine, you can use this to very effectively negate the need for applying topicals to dead bodys, and simply useing cryo pods, provided medbay has power, you know how to properly freeze people, and can effectively produce croyox to mix with the omnizine, i wont mention the blood, as litterally anybody can simply syinge themselfves several times with extremely minimal risk, if not use the puddles of it left about after "insert X disaster"

Yes! It heats, it chills, it pressurizes, it... ...I'm not sure it depressurizes below ambient, actually... ...it exposes to gasses, it injects reagents, a little trickery can remotely/timer control it sorta... cryopods seem indispensable for mad scientists of all stripes. I'm trying to figure out how surreptitiously gather all the prerequisites (including 'ghetto chemistry' likely mostly from atmospheric condensation) to build a custom hidden cryo setup as a traitor. Mr. Mob Doctor (actually I'm a librarian, but who's asking? Not the fellow Syndie with the bullet holes, surely?). Come to think about it, an Atmos tech could probably do it easily, but that's almost 'cheating' in my book (I aspire to commit only 'perfect' crimes that can't be traced back to a specific role). You can easily fill it with unbreathable gasses or use it as an air frier, though! ...I wonder if you could set it up as an improvised crematory... that could actually be a handy service for the syndicate mob doc as well... evidence can sometimes be hard to get rid of.

@05Matz9 ай бұрын
With some clever atmos piping, you could set up some valves to thaw somebody USING the cryopod itself (switching out the cold gas supply for warm gas)! My dreams of a secret traitorous 'mob hospital' in Maints with a hastily-written instruction sheet on the desk, a remote signaller and some timers providing dodgy self-serve treatments for those on the lam grow ever nearer... IIRC toggling the LV network power to the tube itself toggles chemical injection? Is there some way to make a built-from-source test server use any map other than the default test one? The test station has no atmos setup or temperature regulation, so it's kind of a pain for longer-duration tests.
@05Matz9 ай бұрын
After some experimentation on a built-from-source local test server: I couldn't figure out a way to 'automatically' (from a signaller, timer, etc.) toggle power to a cryotube (and thus injection). Seems like you can't rig APCs for remote switching? With the infrastructure of: a cryotube board, at least one but preferably two freezer/heater thermomachine boards, a condenser board, some steel/LV cable/glass/machine parts, a few bottles/glasses/beakers, and a quiet corner to play pipe Tetris; and the supplies of: water (easy, just grab a tank or something), either dexalin or plasma (either tap scrubber lines with more filters and hope for plasma to condense, grind plasma from something, or swipe a bottle of Dexalin pills from an O2 first aid kit), and the station's atmosphere for oxygen, it should indeed be possible to set up a little traitor den cryo setup. Gotta get bandages and iron/copper/etc. to deal with bleeding, though! With a pack of syndie smokes, a material reclaimer, and a microwave or hotplate, in addition to a defibrillator, they can even reanimate the dead, potentially, by harvesting the omnizine (contaminated with nicotine, but that's not really a problem) out of the syndie smokes and converting it to necrosol. No chemmaster is needed, though chemical goggles or something like a grinder to check quantities would be really useful. Actually, if you can't source dexalin quietly, the impurities from grinding plasteel for your plasma are mostly iron, so it's not doing any harm besides taking up bottle space for iron-blooded folk, and will help with blood replenishment. Still a bit of a pain when working without a chemmaster, but should be doable. Getting a defibrillator seems the hardest part of opening an off-books medical/revival facility for other traitors (such as for someone with morgue access stealing other traitors' bodies). Seems like defibrillator cabinets are unlocked, though, so if there's a map with one in a discrete location, liberating one should be possible. Hmm... could buy a chem. synth. kit, a pack of syndie smokes, a pair of syndie encryption keys, and a trained monkey to put together such a hospital, for a total cost of 14TC, leaving the traitor with 6 (for a turret to place to defend the 'hospital hideout', maybe?). The monkey can get one of your encryption keys (gotta get a headset) and operate the hospital while you're out and about doing your cover job or pursuing your objectives, and both of you can hear requests for assistance on the syndicate channel (the monkey can 'page' you, but can't speak). Six syndie smokes is plenty of omnizine, the monkey should be able to do all the condensing, mixing, cooking, and cryotube operation once you show them the workflow, as well as administering medications and topical healing items. A lack of two hands prevents them from picking up the defib, though! Oh, uh, and they can't wear the chemical goggles. So the synthesis kit might not even be worth the TC if your main 'cook' can't use the goggles. If the monkey ditches their 'uniform' and hides any obvious traitor items, they might even be able to make the hospital 'innocuous' enough that on non-LRP servers people don't have cause to attack as soon as they stumble across it -- it's just Dr. Bananas MD (monkey doctor) running a maints cryo setup! Nothing suspicious here!
@05Matz9 ай бұрын
Oh, also, I had to read the code to figure it out, but the "Pneumatic valve" is a through-pipe valve closed if the 'control' pressure isn't at least one atmosphere above the lowest-pressure side. Otherwise, it lets some gas leak through, depending on how MUCH higher the control pressure is than (output + 1atm). This is actually really convenient for keeping a 2atm cryo setup regulated while a 'quick thaw' system expands the gas -- you just set the input pump to ~200 and hook the cryo loop up to one side AND the control of a pneumatic valve, with the output going to a passive vent. This opens the valve to vent excess pressure whenever it is (and proportional to how much it is) more than 1atm over ambient, meaning it will maintain 200 under normal circumstances regardless of fast heating that would normally create dangerous overpressure, while minimizing gas venting under other situations that could slow heating/cooling, and will still maintain at least 1 atmosphere of pressure even if the room it's operating in is depressurized (though if intake is also through a passive vent, it will have no replenishment, and if it's intaking from distro, it will waste some of the station's gas attempting to refill to 200 in such a scenario). They should also be good for crude overpressure protection in eg. shuttle atmos systems!
@des8029 ай бұрын
shame that on some stations cryo needs atmos to be set up alot of the time that never gets done since you can go the whole shift and not run out of air.
@05Matz9 ай бұрын
It's actually really easy to build pipes, so if you can get your hands on steel you can use vents and pumps to pull and push air from the room itself. Just don't stand near the waste exhaust, especially if you're a lizard. Those cold vapours can hurt, sometimes.

People never setup cryonics when I am in medical, and it's pretty easy. Also be careful when saying cryo, because cryogenics and cryonics are very different. Also lepo is a very easy recipe, chem should have no issue making you 100u which is enough for 20 patients.
@spacelizard50019 ай бұрын
As objectively better cryo is, I personally don't use it. I know how it works, but when conventional meds are simply just "Inject that chem into them," cryo is a lot more complex. First I got to realize if cryo is even worth it. If it is, then I need to move them from the main hospital area to the cryo pods. Then I need to strip their insulating clothing, then I need to throw them into a pod and watch them until they're cured. It's just too complex and takes me managing them too much to really be better then advanced medicine. At least in my opinion.
