As a tech person. I suggest SSD only for OS, 4K editing video Storage, Application and games. If you want to keep your personal data safe for years. HDD is better option till you protect it physically

@zubairalam15612 ай бұрын
@@amitghosh6966 you can purchase 10000 HDD now and sell in Future at high cost. Jokes apart. HDD may not disappear very soon because every company knows it's safer for data Storage. So, there will some companies making these. Bulb and tubelights disappeared because they consume very high power than LEDs, some bulbs consume 10 times higher than LED. In terms of HDD and SDD, consumption is not noticeable and SDD will stop working after few years due to which consumers will rely on HDD and companies have to manufacturer it. This is just theory and my observation bro.

Hi, guys i am writing this comment for general information. So which ever hardrdrive or ssd company you use or buy, just keep a monitoring software like " Hard disk Sentinel" to monitor your drives it helps a lot. Because 2 is 1 and 1 is 0. If I lose 1 drive out of 2 I still have 1 more backup but if I have 1 drive and it fails I'll lose every. My rule is to not to save any personal data on SSD if stored on SSD I'll keep a copy in HDD. Once if your HDD is dead there is a high chance of data recovery vs SSD the data recovery chance is close to 0.

Basically, buy the costliest Ironwolf (NAS) drive which is costlier than the Exos (Enterprise) drive or the Skyhawk (video-dvr) drive all of which are designed to run 24x7 is the summary of this video. Nevermind the fact that they are SSD or HDD SMR or CMR. If the data is really important then it is far better to use any (CMR) hdd drive in a RAID 1/5/10 configuration for redundancy with an additional external/off-site drive for backups. SSD can be used for cache. This makes drive/s redundant and data loss is prevented in first place compared to buying a single albeit expensive Ironwolf drive. Bottom line is an expensive drive like Ironwolf does not prevent data loss if the drive fails, unless it is also backed-up and is RAID enabled if high-availablity is required. When we have backup as well as RAID 1/5/10 the most important factor becomes... How long is the warranty?

NAS drives are designed for servers that is why its so robust. Network Attached Storage. It would be important for a KZbinr like you even for some business owners. Its mostly suited for videos or meta data that takes huge chunks. Data storage reliability is considered a luxury for normal users. Yes there are some really important documents that needs 2 be accessible all ur life, for those i just use cloud storage like icloud or one drive. Yeah 5GB free is less but most users dont have that important data. suggesting everyone should spend on expensive storage solutions doesn't fit everyone's situation. PS- One can have multiple emails to get that free 5 GB storage.

Hi, I am watching your videos for a long time now and really appreciate it. However for this topic of SSDs and hard drive I want to add few technical details, which you have missed in the video. Btw before explaining I want to tell that I have been working in this SSD companied from last 6 years and worked in companies such as Sandisk (WD brand) and Crucial (Micron brand). First of all, all the SSD in the world are made in China, even including the one in Apple iPhones or MacBooks. Because there are only 5 companies who can manufacture silicon wafers that we call fabs or Fabrication plants. These 5 companies are Micron, Samsung, Intel, TSMC and Global Foundries, and all of them have manufacturing plans in China, and few have in Singapore, Tiwan, South Korea or Japan. I will quickly brief how a SSD or in-fact any semiconductor is made. First of all sand is take, purified and then reacted with sulfur to reduce it to Silicon, which is then melted to form an ingot in shape of cylinder. Then this ingot is sliced to form disk of Silicon. Then this silicon disk is etched, doped and array of integrated circuits are drawn on it with the help of the process known as lithography. Once all the circuit is completed on the silicon disk then it is sent for testing, before it is sliced to take rectangular shape. During testing manufacturer try to figure out how many of the circuits are working and how many are meeting the specs. This number is called yield of the wafer. This is where the role of companied comes into picture. The beat quality chips on the same wafer is reserves for highest bidder, usually big brands, and cheaper once are sold to low quality product manufacturers. Once the silicon disk is teated then individual IC are cut in shape and packaged and sent to manufacturer. One more point that i want to clarify that when you buy a 1 TB ssd, then the SSD will not just have 1 TB of capacity, It will be having a lot more space than 1 TB, though it will show 1TB on the PC. This extra space is reserved for reliability. After specific read/write cycles the individual bit of the SSD will wear off, which will be then replaced with extra bit available. Once all the extra bits used then we can say the SSD life is ended. This read and write cycles depends on many factors such as temperature, voltage or type of operations. So long lasting SSD which is used for NAS will have a lot of this extra space which will keep replacing the wear off bits hence extending the life.

Don't trust suggestions from data recovery workers, they will suggest a less reliable SSD so they can get more data recovery work and they will earn more money. We live in India we know the mentality of most people here. Just keep more than one SSD's and keep your most urgent data in another SSD as a backup. You are good to go.

Invest time into setting up truenas or unraid, with proper parity drives. never anymore have to worry about failing drives.

You can by low prize HDD bcoz all HDD give some symptom before Dying. but for SSD go for reliable company becoz SSD doesn't give any Symptom before dying.

I have installed 1500+ SSDs in customers Desktop and Laptop PCs. Using 4 of them personally in my Desktops. My oldest SSD 120GB Kingston SSD Now V300, it was running as my primary OS drive since 2012 (worked 16-18 hours / day with daily 5-60GB Writes). Recently (2 months ago) upgraded the primary SSD to 480GB crucial and made the 120GB SSD my secondary storage drive. Since 2012 I have seen only 2 SSD failures, and those were defective from the beginning, I never use cheaper brand BTW. I have seen a lot of system failure (35%+) due to HDD only. Making video for money is OK but misguiding people is not OK, being less informed and less experienced and making video is non sense.
