Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! I'm a 25 year old woman who doesn't know the first thing about cars. But my mirror was flopping around and making it dangerous to drive. Can't believe I was able to fix it for under $50 instead of hundreds at the shop. And all by myself! This experience has really helped build my confidence with stuff like this. Many many thanks

These malfunctioning actuators can also cause problems with the seat memory functions on these vehicles. Good work. Went well.

My daughter had a fight with a garbage can and her 2008 Acura RDX lost. I took it to our repairman and he said the mirror would be $400 from dealer and I needed to shop ebay for cheaper mirrors. I found them for around $180-200 - some of which would have to be painted! I found a diagram while shopping for the mirror and with this video realized I was able to just order the Actuator. This will be her first lesson in DIY car repair. Thank you for this video!

Very helpful video! Took me 5 minutes to replace my mirror and saved me probably a $500 dealer visit! Got the mirror on Amazon for approx $65. Thanks so much the video!!

Hint: you MAY NOT need to buy new actuators @ $48 x 2. "Acura 76210-STX-H03" 1) manually force mirror by hand in all positions to clear any binding that may occur - see if electronically changing each mirror is now smoother (no skip). 2) if still some issue, remove the mirror as in video, but no need to detach or remove actuator - just remove center metal screw+washer+spring, pull plastic center cub and re-grease entire cup area. Re-assemble. for me that fixed the memory seat on 07 MDX requiring 5-10 push of the buttons and mirrors are smooth again. Only time will tell if I should later replace them, but it was free...

Thanks for the tips. Which grease did you use?
@alaind8313 жыл бұрын
@@shaunmathew I probably used white lithium grease I have around, or something better that stays longer, but anything will help. One thing I learned (after all those years) is that IF you leave the side selector button to the right or left mirror, THEN that mirror will pivot down every time you put your car in reverse (to look at the curb) and then back up - which I never actually use so that put a lot of extra wear and tear on that one mirror. Ended up replacing just that one mirror.

The most difficult part is getting the mirror off. The lower right hand corner works the best for getting a long screwdriver. The blade fits in a slot and quick twist will separate it.

You know whats funny. All the motors or what you correctly call actuators are made in China. So They all are Aftermarket. I had a customer who I made glass for who made a custom classic Motorized Mirror assembly for a Classic 442, and said that he paid 1.85 each for 100 and in the US the manufacture wanted 11.75 for 100. Can't blame the guy as he was selling the custom made power mirror chrome and glass from me, retailed for $45.00. His major cost was the stamping for the mold, and Chroming. You did a great job installing that item and describe the process perfectly.

Good video. What does the inside look like if it's of its axis. Stupid me, backed into a pole, so reverse, mirror was pointing downward.. and hit at no mph, but on ice. Nothing damaged, but driver's mirror is of its axis. What did that inside look like?

Having a hard time removing the smaller wires with the white green red brown. Do I have to push down to release it out of the small square opening. Got easily to this point and really struggling to remove this. I’m afraid I’ll damage the wires…

Awesome video! Going to purchase a [hopefully only $38] actuator and replace mine. The dealer did it the first time on my 2008 ... disappointing that is needs to be replaced yet again. Going to save money this time!
@boarderpatrol16419 жыл бұрын
+BoarderPatrol yes, it was just a 5 min job after watching this video. The only thing different I experienced was when I pried off the mirror, the back plate was still attached so I had to remove that to install the mirror on the new actuator ... it is easy to see how it clips in 8 spots so just pry it out gently and it comes out quite nicely. I'm sure the dealer would have charged me $200 labor for this.

I wonder if this would fix the problem with my driver side mirror. When in reverse it turns downward when I have the controller set to the driver side but it doesn't go back into the original position unless I use the control. Good video! Thank you!
@baseer4466 жыл бұрын
This is the feature to help in parallel parking. Shifting out of Reverse returns the tilted mirror to its original position but it's not happening in your case.If you don't want mirror to tilt just move switch to middle position.
@fortunatedad76956 жыл бұрын
@@baseer446 no I understand that. My wife drives it and always seems to leave the switch on for the troubled mirror lol.
@nathanielfuentes52942 жыл бұрын
If this is anything like the 2002, you don’t need to pry anything out. You lift up on the mirror and it slides up and out of the clips. The bracket is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to remove with the mirror glass removed.

Can anyone help me to find the driver motor from the driver side
@raytheglass6 жыл бұрын
Why did you not check for debris between the circle an the Actuator. This was probably the cause being its on the Passenger side where you barley use the adjustment compared to the drivers side. TO fix this, you need a pressure washer wand, like you see in car washes. Spray heavy moving the motor side to side and up and down. Test the motor real fast being your paying per minute. If you don't hear the click, then you got all of the debris out. Of course you pulled the mirror out before you did this. To get the glass out simply grab the middle and just pull. Just like he snap it in. the Next step is simply use a WD-40 type lubricant. SO if this did n this did not work, then by an aftermarket actuator for 6$ because the OEM Honda or Acura housing manufacture bought it from china,. I know this because a customer of mine making aftermarket chrome Chevelle 442 mirrors says he pays .85$ vs 8.85 from Ohio . You however did a great job on the film. Keep up the good work.
