I am now 60. Listened to this song as a young girl. Still love it and makes me cry. My uncle Phillip Brown went into the Army. My dad went into the Army Air course. My Unce was killed at 21. He stayed behind to wait for his best friend who was leaving the next day. My father was angry w him for that. But I said to my dad if Uncle Floys was leaving the next day you would have waited too. He never answered me. My son is now the 4th generation of military men in our family. I have 6 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. I'm sure one of them w go into the military. To all our men and women who served and died. We are a grateful nation and we honor and salute you. My

Just buried my father today in the Veteran's Cemetery on Fort Bragg. I was so proud of my father having been a Green Beret and Ranger. 3 combat tours in Vietnam, 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars. He helped start the MacV Recondo School. He was my hero. He used to sing this song often.

Reminiscing about my dad. He was a professional peacekeeper all his life, an American hero from World War II, and served in Korea, he was shot down in Vietnam and the Green Berets went in an got him out of the jungle, before the Khmer Rouge did. He used to sit in his chair and just listen to this song over and over again, probably thinking about how lucky he really was. We were really lucky to have him as a father.

Hi, Steve. I don't know if you have followed the dispute I have had with a certain individual in the Davy Crockett thread, which has grown quite heated. If you have, you have seen where he questioned my honesty about my own family's military service, and called me an outright liar. You probably know about the FindaGrave Memorial virtual cemetery site; most of my relations from my Dad (WW2, med tech, So. Pacific) on back to the nation's start are listed there. You may want to have a page placed there for your own Dad, if he doesn't already have one.

In 1967, My father was assigned to Ft. Bragg, NC for training prior to deployment to Vietnam. The movie "the Green Beret" had just come come out with John Wayne starring. This song was in the base Movie theater when I saw it . I was 8. And still remember the movie. I have video's of my brother sister and I, playing in a field with C-130 Hercules aircraft doing assault touch and go's in the background. Kind of surreal. Having been at Ft Bragg during the thick of the Vietnam war I have the greatest respect for our troops, particularly those who wear the beret, or trident, who put themselves in harms way for our great democracy. Thank-you.

Barry Sadler był dwudziestopięcioletnim aktywnym medykiem Green Beret w 1966 roku, kiedy po raz pierwszy wykonał „Ballad of the Green Berets” w The Ed Sullivan Show. Pozdrawiam z Polski.

Special Forces training and on an A Team was the hardest thing I've ever done, and it opened many doors for me, including 10 years of law enforcement, and 30 years flying big jets for the airlines. I loved my team, 10th SFGA Ft Devens MA. D.O.L.

I know it has been bad over there for you guys. I've seen a lot of the communities coming together and building areas back up from the recent events. I hope some day soon peace and prosperity will reign supreme for South Africa followed by the whole world.

I'm sorry you folks lost your country in the 80's because of my county's Democrat enemies demonizing you as "racists". In the US, we have been fighting this vile cancer for 60 years. They metastacized and killed your country, as their Democrat tumors have almost finished ours. I don't know what to say to help you against this vile cancerous scourge. I believe we are Stage 4 terminal Democrat also.
