People often tell me steel tanks are heavy. In fact my steel 12.2 litre tanks weigh 28lb each. My aluminum S80s, actually smaller gas capacity, weigh 30lb. It's only under water the steels are less buoyant because they need much thinner walls to contain the pressure and so displace less water. So using steels rather than alis gives me both lighter kit and less weight on my belt to offset the buoyancy of the cylinders.

Hello Tim Gosling, thanks for sharing. We have multiple steel here that we use and rent out, and you are correct, some steels are much lighter and some are much heavier.
