I always loved the detail of how Rita puts up a magic guard just before her mystic arte hits. Like if she doesn't, she'll blow herself up too because it's so powerful.

I like to imagine that she does it ala Final Fantasy style Setup a reflect barrier beforehand, then cast a bunch of strong spells on herself and watch it wreak havoc all at once

Also flynn has a skill that makes casters cast super fast so she'll quick cast near him as well. Kind of like how Estelle's quick cast "Light!" she can do if she casts right after being knocked down

What can I say. Cocky, Intelligent, Devoted. Rita is the best. The incantations are beautifuly written. Music to my ears. The spells are satisfying to watch unfold. Still my favorite "Tales" character.

Magic casters in the Tales Of series are strong as hell in the mid to late game, that's why I always use the MC in the early till I get the fast casting/no cast skill or item (depending on the game) then I'll switch to the mage unless it's a boss fight where it can charge into the character I am using in a flash.

One way Rita can be surprisingly powerful in the early game if you use the grade shop on a new game+ is to have her grind fireball to 3500+ uses; if you do, it will shoot a stream of 10 fireballs, which is extremely powerful for a cheap novice level spell

Lol if you only based that because of "bla bla bla" due to "overlimit spam", then try putting her in a cameo where overlimit doesn't exist like Graces F, Zestiria and Berseria. Without it, she'll just be your ordinary mage with long casting. Look at the Rays where OVL doesn't exist, she was released as an OP char due to Tidal Wave even if it's long casting. But when 5 star weapons came out, she's already left out as a long casting mage. But her Tidal Wave and Bloody Howling are still useful, but easily overshadowed by fast casting mage with great AoE. She's only OP in Vesperia, not any Tales game. Edit: Oh right, put her in Berseria and she'll be a laughing stock against Magilou's Spell Absorber.

@@bloodlust111 Well, if Rita were put in Berseria, her Ovl Spam would probably be replicated by her Break Soul. Magilou would get Spell Absorber off once, then get hit with a constant stream of unstoppable magic.

I don't think so. Break Soul is a skill while Ovl is a feature everyone in that game have access to, it's not just a Rita thing nor she's the only one who can spam spells with it. Rita's Break Soul would be her Burst Artes. Also look at Tales of the Rays where Ovl doesn't exist. Kongwai already took the title of a God Mage. Rita was pretty much dated though she's still a useful mage.

2 years later coming from Tales of Arise covered in scars and burns: so this is the origin of Indignation, "thx" Rita. Still "Blahblah" is more powerful!

Actually, the Indignation spell first appears in Tales of Phantasia which was originally released in 1995.

Yeah, indignation showed up in the very first tales game, Tales of Phantasia back in '95. In fact, it has a similar incantation too. The only English voiced incantation for it is in the GBA version, which goes as such: "I dwell amidst the abounding light of heaven! Thou art at the gates to the underworld. Come forth, thunder of the gods! This ends HEEAUGH! INDIGNATION!" Also, if you look at the battle indignation is used in here, it's the big tournament for Rita and her final boss is the main antagonist of Tales of Phantasia: Dhaos. She actually has to use her mystic arte on him specifically to learn Indignation.

To be fair, there aren't a lot of ice artes in this game, period -- the only other ones I can even think of off the top of my head are frigid blast for Yuri, and inverno for Raven. Ice also isn't an element in this game, either: it's a combination of the water and wind elements in Vesperia

No, there's a Skill called Minimum Damage that will reduce all damage per hit to 1. It's actually useful for grinding Grade with Rita so you can get more perks in NG+

Amazing artes. Such a pity they made her the most annoying character in the Tales series that I decided to not use her. First time I am forced to not use the main Mage of the group on any Tales game. Even when she has the strongest attacks. That annoying 15 years old tsundere attitude that almost ruins the game. Only hard otakus and geeks or 15 year old little boys/girls will disagree with this. Everyone that says that is lovely or that in opposite "she is the best character in Tales of Vesperia" are sick people or weirdos xD everytime she opens her mouth makes me roll my eyes up or want to slap her, and don't make me talk about her "Estellise romance obsession" like if noone noticed, or her blastia obsession like if blastias were living things.
