SSL 12 Software Tutorial | SSL 360 - Routing, Settings & More

The SSL 12 is one of the best interfaces I've used so far and it has a huge array of options for routing, monitoring and more. In this video I explain everything in the SSL 12/Interface tab of the SSL 360 software. The software gives in-depth control over the various routing options that the SSL 12 has to offer. In addition, I show how to customize the 3 user-assignable buttons on the interface, how to use a second set of monitors, how to reassign the headphone jacks to be line outputs, and everything else the interface has to offer. There's even a way to save your custom configurations for quickly recalling different setups.

awesome tutorial. I've seen that the ssl2+ can be use as live monitoring / stand alone mixing (with laptop off), just using it for getting power. Seems that ssl12 can be run only with ssl360, have you tried to use it as stand alone / direct monitoring ? once again thanks for your videos.

I’ve not tried that! I don’t think the SSL12 would work too well for that. It’s a lot more complex and lots of the routing and monitoring can only be configured in the software. The SSL2+ literally just has that blend knob which makes it a lot easier for that standalone workflow.

Do you have this as a separate App along with Logic on your Mac ? Thanks, is there anything to watch out for also with Logic ? Would I get a doubling in sound from a guitar etc , that I would have to deal with ?

Hello, yes this is a separate app that comes with the SSL12. You can use it to configure the interface regardless of the DAW you’re recording in. To avoid doubling, just make sure you’re monitoring in either Logic OR SSL360, not both, just pick one 😁

Hello! Is it possible make reamp from te OUT LINE to the Analog Input?

Yeah, I haven’t tried it but it should work. There’s plenty of routing options and I think you can even toggle the output between balanaced and unbalanced. I’d still recommend a reamp box or something to make sure you get the level and impedance correct though

questio n on the adat on the manual it says it can only be a slave interface because I have a 18i20 and the only way I can get hem to synce is if the scarleet is the master and the ssk the slave ?? i have no problem doing that but would I be loosing quality haveing the scarlet be that master clock???

That’s odd, I actually use an 18i20 with the SSL myself. I’ll have to take a look at the setting on both to see what’s happening. I haven’t noticed any loss of quality though, it always sounds pristine

@@woodyardmusic mine is a gen 2 maybe that’s why? Don’t really know been struggling to get them to synced with the ssl 12 being the master

@@ezurg01 ​​⁠it’s possible because it’s older that it’s harder for vit to play nice. I had two 18i20s and it was even hard to get those two to connect though. I know you have to go into Focusrite control and get all of those settings right too

I am having troubles with syncing via midi cables. There are 12 ports etc. but it does not connect to hardware.

Hay On some of my chanels the peak bars are red instad of green Whay is it?

That means either your input signal or output signal is too hot. If it’s happening on the input channels, turn the input gain down. If it’s happening on the output channels, (headphones for example) then send less audio to that output

@@woodyardmusic in the input only on chanel 1. 2-4 are grean with the same microphone. On the output the headphones and the master are red and line 3/4 is green
