Learn how SSL/TLS offloading is used to relieve a web server of the processing burden of encrypting and decrypting traffic sent via SSL/TLS. The processing is offloaded to a separate front devices or ADC (Application Delivery Controller) designed specifically to perform SSL/TLS acceleration or termination at high speed. An ADC can be hardware-based or software-based depending on the implementations and performance requirements.

Yep same way, in fact load balancers (nowadays also called ADC - Application Delivery Controllers), are often used for just that!
