SSL UF8 Studio One (6) Work Flow | Using Scenes in Studio One 6
(00:00)
Hi, I'm George from Houston, Texas. If you've been a little frustrated about using the SSL UF8 with Studio One, I've got a pretty cool workflow that I think you may like. Stick around. I have a mix here with 38 tracks. I'm not going to play any audio. I'm only going to go through the workflow that I use for mixing. So one thing that I found is that the UF8 does not move along with Studio One, meaning that if I click on a track in Studio One, the UF8 does not go along with it or does not follow along. But there's something that you can do using Studio One using the Scenes feature, and I'll show you how I do that. What I've done is I've gone to the channel list here, and then I go up here to this icon. You could see that it says Show Scenes. I click on it and I've created some scenes here. I've actually created nine scenes. Every time I go to one of these scenes, only certain tracks display. Now, I did that by setting the recall options to visibility only. So there is a little bit of set up, but not too much.

I'm going to close this and I'm going to close this so I have all my tracks now. So I'm going to show you how I navigate through my scenes first. So to go to scene one, I go command one, scene two, command two, command three for the next scene, and I have numbers assigned to it. So this is how I'm able to quickly go to each section. So when I'm mixing, I usually start with the vocals. So I have my vocals there. I have my lead vocal, a vocal bus, I have the mix bus, and I have what I call a stem. I like to work with a workflow using stems or separate tracks, almost like VCA so that I don't have to go back and forth through all the mix to adjust some of the volumes. So my stem section looks like this. So all of the busses are going to stem. So if I wanted to adjust the volumes, I could do it all here from the stems. So let me show you how I get the UF8 to track along with me. So I'm going to go one scene at a time.

So I'm going to show you scene one, which is my percussion. And I have my phone here. Sorry, I don't have anything set up. I'm a bit rusty doing these videos. So as you can see, as you can see, soon as I changed the scene, the controller changed with it. So I'm going to go to scene two here. So I changed scene two, and you can notice how the controller moves. Seven, eight, nine. Now, say I was mixing the drums and I think that's scene three, you can see all of my tracks there. And because there's more than eight tracks, you can just go here and now I have all of my tracks in line, so it's not very complicated. So I hope this makes sense. Just wanted to make it quick, again, going through each scene. Scene 1, the controller changes, it banks. Scene 2, scene 3, Scene 4, Scene 5, scene 6, scene 7, scene 8, scene 9. scene 4, scene 5, scene 6. And this is a quick way that you can use the controller for your benefit. And it's fantastic because I really don't need to see everything to be mixing. I'm quickly going through here and changing the levels and stuff like that.

So again, I'm just using scenes to do that. Hope you all are having a great week. Thank you.
