In this episode, I kick off my test and review series of the latest generation of power stations and solar generators. Today we start with the brand-new EcoFlow River 2 Pro portable generator. At only 17lbs it packs a lot of punch for the size, and I have really enjoyed testing it in our mobile lifestyle. Hope you enjoy the video, and we'll look forward to your comments below!
Cheers,
Captain Rick

Always truthful no messing this is what these companies want from review. otherwise people will be complaining to the company and causing headaches. Telling people what real use and capabilities for people to buy is something no others do. Amazing.

Rick, thank you for taking the time to share with us what you love to do. I am looking forward to the rest of your current round of reviews. The Ecoflo systems are looking good, not only the one you have yet also what you are reviewing. Now, to figure out what to put in my RV for an emergency backup.

I have 2 of the River 2 pros for each cabin on my power boat and all a/c devices go into that versus (TV, Charging, etc) off the battery. When Im plugged into shore power they charge back up. This allows me to anchor out and I don’t have to turn generator on except for oven/stove/air con. They are a nice addition to managing power. I then have a Delta 2 for the galley to run salon TV, blender (small) and coffee machine. The River 2 pro did not run the coffee maker or blender….When I need to blow up fenders, just plug into ecoflow……I take with me in the car for my refrigerator when I go back and forth to the boat for food…Very handy

Hi Rick . I am glad there is someone who can decipher all these manufacturers claimed specifications for electronics .... battery capacity etc . I don't expect an answer but why could this information be provided up front in simple , absolute terms buyers and users can understand without needing professional training ? It seems crooked to me . Still it gives you something to do I suppose , lol ; thank you for opening our eyes .

Excellent video! You just answered one of the questions I had. I'm thinking about getting one of the larger Ecoflow devices as portable emergency backup power source. Basically, something to keep fridge and freezer running if there's a larger power outage. The plan is to charge the device from solar, with an additional boost from a small genset. The genset cuts out at about 900W - the question you answered was if the Ecoflow can be configured for a certain AC power draw to keep low power energy sources from overloading. :-) Thank you for answering my question in passing. :-)

It seems Captain Rick did not refer to these power units as "generator's", therefore I'm not clear why anyone would complain about such mundane choice of words or technicalities. Some people just like to pick on the smallest details of other's use of words. Honestly!...good job, Captain Rick. Looking for the rest of your comparison's. Be safe and sound from the Philippines 💞

Rick, I love these reviews. Although I am not an electrical engineer and don't claim to know what all the jargon means, I seem to be absorbing a lot, and that makes it all clearer. As a commercial pilot, I only have time and mental bandwidth for a few careers! 😅 Thanks so much. A question keeps popping up in my mind, and you sort of touch on it at the end; "which ones I'm gonna keep." So, it seems clear that all these units are sent to you for free for your review. I totally understand that and expect you to keep and use what you like (great job 👏). My question: What happens with the rest of all these review units and technology, cameras, drones, etc.? Do they go back to the company? Or perhaps you are able to give them to/donate them to welcoming and/or need demonstrated recipient's.... That would just feel good to know. Not that you are in this to make everyone feel good (somehow you really succeed in that 😊), but that's always a nice bonus! 🌺🌺🌺 You'd need a support vessel to carry all the toys!

All good, oxidation is what I am really interested in, what is the life expectancy on a boat for the average user. That data is really all that matters since pretty much all these devices use the same batteries and it’s all in the circuitry and how well protected it is.

man I need a solar generator for my drone business while in the job site. Will need to charge 1 to 4 lithium ion polymer batteries on Skydio batteries charging bank input/output schc2v1 5-20vdc, 3A/20vdc, 5A (usb) / 7-13vdc, 6.5A (skydio 2 battery) 7-13vdc, 8A (skydio 2+ battery) the cube that plugs into USA electric outlet has input 100-240V~50/60Hz 1.37A output5v---3A or 20V----3.25A...The actual batteries are Skydio 2+ model sba35v1 rating 11.07vdc, 5410mAh, 59.89Wh. Money is an issue! which solar generator would charge the Skydio 2+ batteries and not break my piggy bank. Thank Capt Rick....get well soon too.

i cringe every time I see these referred to as "generators". They don't generate squat, just store electricity "generated" by something else, be it solar panels, mains current, etc. I suppose I should start referring to the rechargeable batteries in my flashlight as "generators".

Ok, a least you made it to the 6 min mark before making the "solar generator" faux par. Ok, I can agree with "power station" but, as I commented before, the use of "solar generator" is completely wrong. I'm temped to say that it is stupid to call it that, but stupid is too strong of a word. That word is better reserved for riding a bike with a helmet-less child. I say this as a friend.

Will Prowse, who in my opinion is also an expert on this stuff, calls these units “solar generators.” I have other definitional disagreements with this comment but will refrain from being petty.
@dreupen
@dreupen Жыл бұрын
@@jp3503 Point proven. Will is far from an expert. I like his videos too, and he does convey some experience, but lacks a true understanding. Andy, from the KZbin channel "Off Grid Garage" is more of an expert. Don't confuse petty with pedantic.
