My father was part of the team that excavated Verulamium and I spent many a rainy day in a tent on site. I was only about nine years old but I still remember some of the funny stories about members of the team. I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Catching up after getting Covid. Wow! I haven’t seen the amphitheatre since Mrs Wallace took us there in Primary School. You showed us so much more than I remember seeing that day. My husband (who lived in St A whilst at college) has never seen any of this and was really surprised it existed. Looking forward to the next part. ❤

Great video, looking forward to part 2, certainly changed since we last went there (30yrs), regarding the handbrake incident, we had the same in a Vauxhall viva in Guildford, Me holding handbrake up near my left ear right foot on the accelerator pedal and the wife operating the clutch & brake Great fun! NOT.😁

@@alisonhiggs6048 I don't remember the name thornycroft. If I remember the house would have been close to a alleyway which led to a group of garages were built at the back of the houses along Tavistock Ave?

Hi young Bob Jen and pops. Great part 1 of your detailed tour of verulamium and the walk about the old town wall and lake area... I played Sunday cricket on part of park for the verulamium 11 in 60's. Also the fighting cocks pub.. that's change since I worked there again in the 60's. It was owned then by Tommy Farr... He often left me in charge at weekends when he went to visit family out tewkesbury. I still have the old fighting cocks tie... I wore.. Change many a barrel of red barrel and double diamond in deep 8 ft thick walled cellar.. It looks like you had your lunch in the old cock pit area that was?? I also worked in tescos on Friday night and Saturdays filling shelves. Along with ginger the local ex teddy boy turned rocker if you will... a real local character. St. Julian school I frequented in early 60's not sure when you were there Bob? The king Harry pub I remember having teenage pint in there the day they brought out the breathalyser!! Had to do numerous hill starts on hollywell hill when learning to drive.... no hand brake issues I am pleased to say... one or tow smoking clutches maybe!! Just nice to have memories... Just a few of the many many more I have of st Albans... Thanks as they say for the memories.. A real treat. Keep them coming... cheers guys. Stay safe out there. Regards Dave.

Thanks for the memories. I remember Ginger Mills, used to see him around a lot. I was at St Julian's from 1970 to 1972.

I was at St Julian from 62 to 64 was head boy. So we missed each other then. Remember the wood working and technical teacher small guy with glasses always wore a brown smok coat bit like the old iron mongers shop up the town next to I think lloyds bank and opposite wimped burger place? The other teachers I remember were maths and sports teacher tall guy wore rimless octagonal glasses. Along with the geography teacher daulby a big thick set guy. Then there was French teacher called James small guy always had a thick sports jacket on.. liked to throw blackboard rubbers and chalk pieces at you if you were not paying attention!! Don't know if any of those characters were there when you were.? Am showing at fully remebering names.

@@davecotgrave6803 I remember the Geography teacher, thought he was very good. I can't remember his name but the history teacher always used to talk about the Soviet Union and the lesson consisted of him dictating exam answer essays. Probably why I managed to pass History O level! I think the technical drawing teacher couldn't actually keep order and there was all sorts flying about during the lesson.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo I think his name daulby.. he was a thick set big guy in his 50s!! Yes the history guy struggling to picture him he may have been a soviet sympathiser!!!!.. either way you did well in history then.. The tech drug guy yes a free for all.. he also in my time did the metalwork..

Oh that is my kind of thing ( Verulamium) and i have never been looks amazing, i see they were giving thumbs down 2000 years ago. Very clever people those Romans were, bath houses, underfloor heating beautiful coins and statues, it went backwards for a while after them 😊I was laughing at your memories when Jenny said you all got in the car and he drove off without her 😂sorry Jenny but you are laughing about it now all memories.

We stayed at Ashridge Farm Caravan and Motorhome Club Site. Think the nearest campsite might be Commons Wood Caravan and Motorhome Club Site in Welwyn Garden or Hertford Camping and Caravanning Club Site.

Not exactly Roman history, but my answer would be no. Most conventional (torque convertor) automatics cannot be flat towed.
