celsius works good on dove weed, make sure to use it at .113 oz/1000 sf. and some surfactant and hammer it. the st. aug will be fine. been doing it all day every day for the past couple of weeks here in Houston.

Being in Fort Myers I’m lucky I’m so close to you and was making notes on the names of the weeds we both have. I did use your Celsius on them 2 weeks ago and it knocked out the bad Dove Weed and the Day Flower. I will do a second dose again to hit the remaining weeds. I think one topic you should really cover in your videos is soil pH, I recently had a soil test done and my soil was 5.1 which is extremely acidic. I will be putting lime down to neutralize it. If you google ‘ effect of soil pH and nutrient availability’ you’ll get a neat chart that shows where your nutrients are made available at certain pH ranges. Most Macro nutrients aren’t fully available below 6.5, it changes the form of the nutrient and makes it inaccessible to the plant. Most nitrogen fertilizers are basically acidic salts that over time can lower your pH, (depending on your soil type of course)which is the main macro that is applied to turf, but it is important to correct your pH if you want really nice turf because eventually you won’t be maximizing your fertilizer because you’ll be putting it down and won’t see a huge pop of color like you would if you had neutral soil. You can have high fertility and low soil pH but it requires more fertilizer to compensate for the low pH.

I've elected Bahia in FL Pinellas, not as thick and pretty as St. Augustine but no chinch bugs, comes back from dead brown, less mowing, no chemical spraying. I think it's the way to go for me, any thoughts?

I let them fill back in naturally and you are correct, weeds will rush in. That's why I need to do a better job at getting on top of the weeds when they are young.

you first have to decide which grass type you want to go with based on what's already there. Once you choose the primary then you can look at strategies for growing that while suppressing the others. In some cases, there is no way to do that and you have to rip it all up and resod.

Big fan. Moved down south to Ruskin Florida, I have Bahia grass in my yard, determined to see what I can do with it. Cutting it high, just applied 7-0-22, will throw prodiamine down as it gets closer to 55 degree soil temp... How often should I throw down the stress blend?

Bahia doesn't need a lot so every 6-7 weeks will be plenty. Mowing tall like you are doing is the most important thing - and also keep it watered now that we are drying up from the rainy season.

Hi Al, I've got palmetto in Western Australia and the couch/Bermuda invades so what I do is s light application of pgr and then I drop my height of cut. The pgr slows the couch more than the palmetto so then I let the palmetto get high again and try shade out the couch. It does seem to make a big difference even eradicating it in some parts. The only problem I have is if there's any damage during winter and the palmetto isn't nice and high the couch will come back

I notice that the bermuda runs in much stronger during the rainy season and it backs off in the winter due to this same factor. I wish I could just kill it though lol

I have St Augustine grass and had Zoysia. You can find better products for Zoysia to kill weeds. I would go with Zoysia since has less issue with disease as well.

Zoysia is the best barefoot grass we have available in my opinion. If you like a low cut, go zoysia.

I put down a half rate of the stress blend 2 weeks ago. Will put down the rest next week or last week of October. I was skeptical but the stress blend really greened it up. The grass blades are getting fat again. Seems to really be helping recover from grey leaf spot from over summer.

It's pretty cool how well that Stress Blend works. Hardly any Nitrogen but man the results are great as you are seeing. I'm glad we are past the gray leaf spot time of year, I escaped it mostly this year, luckily.

Did you replace your zoysia with st aug? Yeah Wild Bermuda & torpedo, sigh... I've read on the headway G label that 3lbs/1k or more will damage Bermuda. Problem is it doesn't stay suppressed/damaged for very long.

I am 8 days out from second application to conquer horrible breakout of chickweed and chamber bitter weed that has left me with several patches of bare areas after clearing out dead weeds. I just purchased some palmetto sod pods and starter fert from your store. Is it safe to install and use so close to blindside. My two fears: 1) planting new sod too close to weed killer and 2) putting starter fert and giving weeds a new life. Help…this DIYer is scared!

St Augustine grass? If so this past April I used Glyphosate to completely kill the plant then after a few days dug it out and leveled with dirt. We had a lot of rain this spring (also in Central Texas) so it filled in very fast. Without knowing the grass type it will be hard to recommend chemicals and unfortunately most are only listed as suppression for Dallisgrass and can take many applications.

I’m having the same issue as you Allyn with the dayflower. It’s every year and this year is no exception and really bad. Just as bad if not worse in some areas where it’s taken over the grass. I’ve tried both blindside and Celsius and they both work the same but, the dayflower comes back fast. Any recommendations on something else to use? I’d greatly appreciate it.

it comes back because of like I showed in the video, not all of it dies from the app. So the real cure it to get to it when its VERY young, not let it mature. For this season though, you just have to be diligent and keep spraying it according to what the label allows.

I choked most of the wild bermuda out of my lawn by using triclopyr and seeding and thickening up the fescue, and my zoysia. The worst weed to me is creeping bentgrass, a third of my lawn was full it and I'm still fighting it, stuff is relentless.

yeah that is one of the drawbacks to iron products - really just have to get it swept off faster is the only cure - or make sure your edge guard on your spreader is working well, that will help reduce it hopefully.

@@TheLawnCareNut I hear you. I have a question for you. I completed a renovation before fall. Do you suggest a fungicide when doing this? The reason I ask is because I got hit hard after it came up and about half died. Cool season grass :)

My centipede grass is starting to slow down. BUT I will keep mowing to keep the seeds from forming. Sadly, my mom's centipede(not as thick) has DOLLAR WEED! GROSS.

I've had good luck with Celsius on Dollar Weed. Use a Surfactant with it.

Maybe it's just me, but I subscribed to your channel a year ago and watched all of your quality videos , but as of lately I am missing variety and quality content to be honest. Especially do I miss, as you wrote me back then , more content to zoysia gras as I have. Also, as being down in Ft. Lauderdale and winter hits us as good as not at all , we have to go by a little difference of methods considering time of application's. I will look forward a bit and hope you will find your ways back to better informing us,

Just what I needed to see this weekend. I think I've put my grass into stress mode with an Image weed killer application tied with Bonus S as well as Scott's Disease Ex and Bayer's liquid fungicide...but the grass needed it. I "fired" my lawn company because they weren't doing their job. Now that we can get all this back on track I can start treating predominantly with your ferts.

I know wrong video to post this on but don’t wanna post on an old video. I’ve got a bag of the yard mastery 12-12-12 and realize I don’t have a way to measure out 4lbs of it. Would I be okay assuming that 1 cup of it is about 1/2 pound? And so 8 cups for 4pounds?
