Thank you for this comparison analysis! I like both, but I have to say I like the convenience of the rr. I really like your channel...I was an exchange student in Östergötland. Tack!

You are most welcome Francisco! Thank you for watching and commenting. I have not been to Östergötland yet. Life keeps me busy here. If they have a dog show there I may end up visiting sooner. I am originally from the U.S.. Varsågod!

I don't have any pre rubbed tobacco that is the same thing as a flake that I have so I've often wondered if tobacco is like pepper. the ground pepper has about half the flavor of freshly ground pepper.
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Great analogy. Never thought of it in terms of pepper that way, but makes sense.

Hello Greg I will say it again. This is your thing. Your “ specialty “. You make the best comparison videos. Very well structured and easy to understand. Bravo ! Yes I knew you will like the flakes. I was sure of it. You preferring the ready rubbed gave me another problem to solve because I never had it. I am extremely happy that my friend from Germany is sending me some st Bruno ! So this video came at the perfect time. Have a wonderful day!!

Thank you Sliviu! Awesome you will get to try both - you need to do a comparison vid too! The RR won by only a small bit, but I still love the flake. I will be spending some time with it on it's own and see if anything changes. Was a lot of flavors going around switching between the two. So need to give it a fair shake solo.

I love flake, still trying to pack it right, but thanks for the review. I'll stick to my flakes, lol, cheers!
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
This one actually broke apart better then the ready rubbed came out of the pack lol. Normally use my tobacco grinder on flakes, but this one did not need it.

I have only ever had the flake and it's one of my favourite blends. Thanks for the comparo

Thank you for watching! Flake was really good, just edged out by the RR for my palate. Wonder if it would have been different if I had tried the Flake first. 🤔

I‘m binge watching your videos…love‘em 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍 I tend to favor the flake vs RR of a given brand…unless..its high nic..when I favor the RR which is usually a bit milder. I’m always surprised…that….there‘s any difference at all…but…maybe its the air exposure and the burn dynamic 🤔😄
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Oh no, my first binge watcher🤣. On the serious side, thank you so much. Is a great compliment. Both are great and I am going to revisit them in a future vid after sampling other floral blends and letting them jar for a while. I always struggle with flakes, but not this one happily.

Funny how differently we perceive these things. I know a guy who smokes a lot of Bruno as it is his favourite tobacco. He swears there’s more floral topping/casing in the ready rubbed and for that reason prefers it. To me they taste so similar that I always buy ready rubbed as it costs 25% less. Anyways, really enjoy your videos. Appreciate your efforts.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. That is the great thing about pipe tobacco - something for everyone. For that very reason, I always try blends that peek my interest. Some may hate it, but it could turn out to be one of my favs, or the other way around.

I agree more floral in the ready rubbed for me too.
@grumpyoldsodinacellar3518 Жыл бұрын
IMHO, there's a world of difference, the flake burning slower and stronger.

I'm definitely a fan of the RR. I had a tin of the flake and gave it away to a friend. Appreciate hearing how they compare to you. Have a great week ahead Greg.

Thanks Randy! You have a great week as well!

Interesting. I’ve smoked the ready rub, but have one tin of the Flake I’ve yet to open. Both good but one is cheaper!😊
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
AH - I totally forgot to mention that. $2 difference at my supplier. Finally I prefer something that is cheaper lol.
@SmokingCardboard2 жыл бұрын
@@variablehobbyist $6 difference here 😬

@@SmokingCardboardHmm - that is quite a difference. For once - I have something cheaper lol.

The ready rubbed is great. and I like the ease of having a pouch. SlowMo sent me a tin of the flake so eventually I'll pop that open once I get through some other tins. Its so cool to see that cutting board!!
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Good to see you! Yes, that cutting board has made several appearances in videos and pics. It is just perfect for my shop.

A proper analysis! Was difficult isn't!?? Definitely this video is a reference for st Bruno.
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Giulliano! Yes, most difficult - even when there were definite differences.

Nice comparison video! I’ve had both and found I much prefer the flake because of the more concentrated flavors and the different ways I can prepare it: cube cut, rubbed out, or folded. Each changes the experience. 😀💨💨
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I plan on spending some time with the blend and evaluate it on it's own over time. Tough doing a comparison with all the flavors going back and forth. Both are excellent, I try to avoid having a tie for the result. For my palate RR won just barely. I will try your suggestion on the different preps for the flakes too.
@Pipemonkey2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you buddy, to me they are chalk & cheese the flake is way superior imo, however they are both delicious. Great breakdown brother love you channel 👍
@variablehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I am going to be spending some more time with the flake and really try to enjoy it on it's own. Both are great though. Wonder if I would have picked the flake if it had been the first I tried.🤔 Have a great week!

The "fruit" I think your smelling, may infact be vinegar which is used as a preservative.

Have both like both but prefer the flake. To me the flake is just the rubbed ramped up deeper richer fuller. Like say a Laphroaig oak select and Laphroaig 10 both Laphroaig both peated both good but the 10 is just better. Love st.bruno both great but the flake is just better
