We hit 100 subscribers! Thank you, everyone! To celebrate this momentous occasion, I wanted to do something challenging, that forced me out of my comfort zone, and that somehow related to Shakespeare (since he is my favorite). I thought that it would be a cool idea to perform the St. Crispin's Day speech from Henry V in Times Square. So that's what I did! I absolutely love this monologue, and I have included the full text of it down below if you're interested (I made some little cuts for the sake of time). Thank you to everyone who subscribes and supports the channel. I absolutely love making videos and like I have said before, I have no plans on slowing down anytime soon.
HENRY:
What's he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin:
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

It’s pretty sad how this speech, one of the greats in all language, is said and nobody seems to even know what it is. Read your Shakespeare everyone. There’s a reason he’s considered the best of all time.

If you know nothing else about Shakespeare’s St. Crispin’s Day speech from Henry V, then know that it’s where the phrase “band of brothers” came from.

We need this speech for the Western world before it falls completely. To see those ignorant tv repeaters just staring at there phones like the living dead shows us where we are as a society... I wish I could do what you did that day

I appreciate you, man. The world is messed up, but it's never so dark that you can't pursue the light. Also you absolutely could do that! It's uncomfortable at first, but then you realize that you're doing what most people wouldn't dare to do and that's empowering. Just breathe and take the plunge.

Good for you - that took some balls! Almost as much as staring down 25,000 of the pride of France with only maybe 6,500 of your own, many of whom were weak with dysentery. And Shakespeare was right, here we are 400yrs later and we still remember their names: Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester!!!

I love your enthusiasm! Why do we recite this great speech? It gives me hope that there are many more young and old men out there willing to fight for noble causes. Keep it up! Be bold and courageous and do valiantly! That is Reality! The morass of much of humanity pulls the plug on many a man's aspirations to do great things. Silence plus apathy equals complicity. So true of our society. When one hears a soulful Solzhenitsyn speak one is moved to greater heights. Keep taking risks. God created us to reach for the stars, not to grovel. We are frail children of dust, feeble as frail. And yet God is mindful of us. A gifted man will one day stand in the courts of kings and not before obscure men. Humble yourself before the LORD Jesus Christ and ask Him for inspiration and He will be your guide, mentor and rock. We are watching, we are writing those screenplays. Time will arrive, in the meantime prepare and don't settle for less than excellence, and bring dignity to the stage and screen.

Gotta say, that's a ballsy move! It's almost as ballsy as what Richard V did at Agincourt. Taking on the greatest speech in HISTORY in Times Square AND adding the music from what is IMO the best recitation of this speech, Kenneth Branagh's in the movie version of Henry V. Fortune favors the bold. Well done sir.
