Very similar rod is their 8' Legend Elite Musky. Held in hand both almost feel identical other than a price tag and Elite being ever so slightly lighter.

I am looking at picking up one of these rods for throwing whopper plopper 130 and 190 and spinnerbaits bucktails, I’ll take any input you could give on what model I should order

@@Shotguner - I wouldn’t hesitate to use the swim bait special on these lures, BUT with the “Big Spinnerbait and Topwater” rod in the Pike lineup, it’s hard not to think that rod would be outstanding! How big of bucktails are you looking to throw?

@@stienfamilyoutdoorsI just noticed that new top water and big spinnerbait model, do you think the extra length at 8 foot would be worth the casting distance but the rod be 2 piece, sorry to bother you this is the only video I could find on these rods

@@Shotguner - I really like the extra length - I had been using a 7’6 rod and wanted to push up to 8’. I’m fishing out of camp boats (18 foot Lund SSV) and had no issue with the extra length getting in the way. I’ve fished with two piece rods quite a bit and haven’t ran into significant issues. I do like single piece rods, but I sometimes think it is more mental than evidence based.

i just bought this reel and rod from watching your video. can i use j braid x8 instead of cortland master braid because its too expensive to ship to canada ?

Glad you found the videos helpful. I’m not familiar with X8 braid, but any quality braid from 65-100lb would work!

Honestly, any of the colors haha! I was using a more red/white color and the tail got bit off. Changed to a black/chartreuse and caught a 46” one on the first cast with it. I think they did a slight manufacturing change a few years back and I find they run just a little different. I have liked both the 6” and 7.5” models. The 7.5” ones are a bit heftier weight-wise.

Which model do you think would be best for all round Pike fishing for bigger and smaller Pike?

If I was looking to fish lures and pike on the smaller side, I would look to the bass line of products in the 7’0 MHF area. The “Versatile Special” in the pike line up would be a good one to check out too!

Yes - I’m using 80lb on a 400 size Shimano reel.
