This tune was one of the first that got me hooked on the great american musical tradition, and starting to broaden the musical world I was born into, as son to a strictly European church organist. To hear Wynton Marsalis, not only play, but also sing is going to be hard to top. Thank you Wynton for enriching my life!

It is always such a treat to hear Wynton sing! Love the way you handle the notes and how your voice weaves in and around the sounds of the instruments playing.

Wynton man, you're the best in jazz today. I love how you play all the tunes my friends Sidney and Louis played and not only modern fusion stuff. You still bring the blues to us! You take it away!

THANK YOU! To Wynton Marsalis, I owe my absolute love for New Orleans-style jazz, without hesitation my favorite style. For this and for all the music, infinite thanks. Gustavo Monastra, from La Plata, Argentina.

Amazing performance !!! As I replied to a comment, dusso4231 That's not the motive or the spirit of Wynton's performance here. As musicians and entertainers, we are not attempting to upstage or make a personal comparison to an icon like Cab. But, rather give our own musical interpretation and pay tribute in his memory. Similar to the ways of the Gospels. Matthew has his version of events. But Mark, Luke and John each recall the same events. But the accounts and description of events are expressed from different points of view; each within a different vocabulary. Same is when you see and hear Wynton and his band perform this tune.

Wynton has played a Monette since the late 90s. But trust me, if you hand Wynton a student model King or Jupiter he'll kill it just as hard.

Not as good as Cab in my opinion, but definitely an amazing rendition. Cab added more soul to it. His trumpet playing is on point though. Outside that high F but i can’t hit that note so i cant speak on it.
