"Oh, Didn't He Ramble" Is a tradtional New Orleans street funeral song. It's wonderful to see Wynton Marsalis present the roots of American Jazz.

I FIND DAN NIMMER (PIANO) SO GREAT TO LISTEN TO AND TO WATCH. HE BASICALLY PLAYS WITH HIS EYES CLOSED. AMAZING! SAM CHESS (TROMBONE) WAS JUST WONDERFUL AND ANY OF THE "WIND" INSTUMENTS TAKE A LOT OUT OF THE MUSICIAN. I SEE CARLOS HENRIQUEZ ON MANY OF THESE CD's AND HE MUST BE SO GOOD AT HIS CRAFT BECAUSE DIFFERENT BAND LEADERS WANT HIM IN THEIR BAND. ALL OF THESE MEN ARE SO GOOD AND REALLY SWING AND ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER WHILE THEY ARE PLAYING. SYLVIA! 4/21

Didn't he ramble; he rambled Rambled all around in and out of town Didn't he ramble, didn't he ramble He rambled till the butcher cut him down His feet was in the market place, his head was in the street Lady pass him by, said look at the market meat He grabbed her pocket book and said I wish you well She pulled out a forty-five, said I'm head of personnel Didn't he ramble; I said he rambled Rambled all around in and out of town Didn't he ramble, oh, didn't he ramble He rambled till the butcher shot him down He slipped into the cat house, nmade love to the stable Madam caught him cold, said I'll pay you when I be able Six months had passed and she stood all she could stand She said, buddy, when I'm through with you Old groundhog gonna be shakin' yo' hand And didn't he ramble; he rambled Rambled all around in and out of town Oh, didn't he ramble; he rambled You know he rambled till the butcher cut him down I said he rambled, Lord, till the butcher shot him down

@@JuanraKos I dont follow. I know it was an insult but could you rephrase that I said it because I wanted to start a discussion about it that i could maybe learn something from after talking to people. I didnt say it to start toxic arguments

The purpose of repeated notes is to gather rhythmic momentum, the soprano player here repeats them too often while he’s thinking out what to do next and stays firmly grounded
@jacobfrantzen45596 жыл бұрын
jwmc41 victor Goines is that player and he’s one of the best in world.
@jwmc416 жыл бұрын
Jacob Frantzen Could be but it depends what you mean by best, which in this case would have to be an immediately recognizable jazz voice, whose right place doesn’t seem to be in a WM pick up group playing Jerry Roll Morton hand me downs (however much I like the originals) - or maybe it is just a reflection on how difficult it is for a jazz musician to get decent pay

@therobbeshow9457 Жыл бұрын
Ratées, manquant de personnalité ? Parce que il faut jouer pleins de notes baclées sans précisions, les une après les autres pour faire swinger ? Ont fait ce que on veut ! Démontrable qu'il faut mieux jouer peu mais que ça swing ! (less is more !).
