As an (artist) i feel such deep respect for Jon Batiste. He has fucking life and rhythm and personality and artistry. He's a bad ass, and he's stylish. And now he's host of the Late Show. I'm glad he has it, cuz this dude rocks.

He is so amazing...I hung out at many concerts with the Batiste brothers in the seventies. So John is his father I presume. Musicians in New Orleans were so giving and not at all arrogant. We just all shared our love and respect for music. New Orleans is a special place to grow up. Music is in our soul. Talented young man.

Mark O'Connor is one of my favorite violinists of all time and my favorite fiddler. He looks out of his element at times here, mixed in with these New Orleans musical traditions, but I think it's great. It's wonderful to see a brilliant artist like Mark trying something new. All of these guys are brilliant and the best in their field. As a violinist, I'm always so excited when I watch clips of this concert showing violin as a jazz instrument, especially New Orleans jazz, my favorite. Great performance!
