@markeric13372 жыл бұрын
I started taking it last week. For some reason, I felt a lot better the next day. I struggle with tiredness a lot, and I'm working a lot at the moment, so it's a bit hard to get a great guage on it right now. But it seems to make me a bit more carefree so far. I got put on the anti's for years, and I feel those things are brutal honestly. Nausia, trembling, worsening anxiety, impotence, fragility etc..... The doctors I went to were literally lying to my face; because, sadly, its seemed they just couldn't care less, so i'm checking this stuff out. I'm wondering if it might be better to take when needed.
@markeric13372 жыл бұрын
Update. I don't like st. John's wort. It's better than ssri's, but I don't like serotonin boosts in general. Even probiotics that create serotonin are too much. I don't believe serotonin is what controls anxiety and depression.
@Suchapill2 жыл бұрын
How does the serotonin boost make you feel?
@markeric13372 жыл бұрын
@@Suchapill Serotonin boosts make me feel drained emotionally, i realise that now. I went all the way down to something as harmless seeming as a new probiotic that increases serotonin. And after three days i recognised that old feeling. Lately I have found fish oils boost my mood, as far as depression is concerned. High Epa fish oil. The rest for me, at the moment comes down to understanding what I feel and how others feel. not worrying about worrying about worrying. The ultimate cure though, is facing your fears. Those things I'm avoiding that will improve my life.

Mirtazapine = very powerful modern antidepressant. Has slight sedation effect which is good for depressed people finding it hard to sleep (interestingly the sedation effect works better at half dose, and sedation effect decreases as dose is increased) . The drug also builds up in system and works faster than SSRIs. Drawbacks = you will always have an appetite and will eat more. Also it effects sexual function for most people.
@DonnyDaison4 жыл бұрын
Out of all of the medication I had taken for depression, that was the one that had the least amount of side effects. It definitely worked for depression, but it still felt like I was on something, which for some people is fine. It definitely makes you crave things like carbs and cookies, so if you are overweight, I would caution it.
@abacdse Жыл бұрын
Remeron doesn’t affect sexual function as much as the other ant depressants on the market. It’s highly sedating at low doses and you will not want to get out of bed

When is it best to take St John’s Wort? In the morning or evening?
@Slarti3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't make much of a difference because it can take a week or so for it to become effective. It's not something you take and it has an immediate effect, it takes a few days for it to build up in the system and to have an effect.
@chloegreenie33092 жыл бұрын
I am so late to respond but don't take it at night. Since it can affect the normal sleep cycle when it does work, it can cause insomnia. They say to take it in the morning and it goes to work throughout the day.

I take 900mg per day of the Nature Valley capsules from good ol' walmart in the morning (does not make me nauseous so I don't divide the dose). It's only been 17 days but it has been life changing since about day 5. I was not expecting any effect actually, it was just a last-ditch effort before I was going to give up and ask a doctor for an SSRI. I was worried it was just a placebo effect, but I really had 0 expectations and I've continued improving since. Honestly it feels like I found a cheat code and it SAVED my life, for real. Side effects were a headache at night the first week and I get a "floaty" or lightheaded feeling a few hours after taking it. I will say I was desperate and doubted it would work well alone so I took it w/ a glass of grapefruit juice the first week to enhance it, which you should not do, and I probably did not need lol. Definitely recommend people try it if struggling (and not on other meds)!
