Curious your rod & reel section (e.g. trout spey or ???); looks a little beefy(?). Fun video!

They are using an 11 foot 7 weight switch rod and I believe Bill has a Skagit line. He was using it without head attachments to nymph fish which is popular.

@@newflyfisher Thanks! I trout-spey nymph all winter and still use the floating head; maybe I should try putting my leader directly to the shooting head section(?).

Despite what you Great Lakers think, there's a big difference between lake-run trout and steelhead. Come out to the west coast and hook into a wild winter chromer, and you'll understand. Don't call your fish steelhead - they aren't.

Technically it’s the same strain they introduce annual pacific west strain steelhead into great lake tribs come out to the great lakes and hook a 30 inch winter run steelhead and then you’ll see they really are steelhead 👍

Yeah big difference (not!)... you guys do so good managing them out west too lol... tell ya what after you are done driving your fish to extinction with dams, crappy hatchery stock, overfishing and poor water quality you can still come out to michigan and catch the same fish!!
