This is our exploration walk round of the graveyard of St Patrick's Church at Craigagh, Cushendun, Co Antrim Northern Ireland. The Roman Catholic church here dates back to the early 1800s and many of the graves are from that period. Indeed St Patrick’s, is not only the oldest in Cushendun, but is thought to be the only church in the Diocese of Down and Connor to occupy the site of an ancient church.
-The remarkable Fuldiew Stone is here and I have videoed it already for KZbin.

-The older headstones, mark the burial places of McDonnell's of Ballyterim (with a very fine McDonnell coat of arms).
The McAuley's of Tornamoney and McNeill's of Park.
-A recent plaque by the graveyard entrance gate commemorates children who were found in the cillin (A cillín (plural cilliní) are historic burial sites in Ireland, primarily used for stillborn and unbaptized infants.) at Castle Carra during recent archeological excavations.
Just across the road from the church you can find the Gloonan Stone - gloonan come from the Irish word for knee.
On the stone is a depression which is said to have been made by St Patrick when he knelt to pray and a larger hole in the stone is known as St Patricks well. ( We managed to miss this! We will have to back! )
Here is a link to some grave headstone photographs. they include the Glonnan stone.
