Very nice, and I believe it’s the best I’ve seen thus far. Getting a 5 may ultimately require a bit of luck with the smaller targets, but even when you didn’t quite achieve it, your hits in general were closer to the centers.

Thank you! Yea I think targets where the shots are consistent but 2s are better than the ones where its a bunch of 0's and some lucky 5s to pump up the score. Consistency is key.

@idahoarmin very cool! I am 6 or 7 hours north where winter never ends 😂 From Lewiston, was the capital before Boise. Where the CCi stuff is made, though, I am not bragging about that whatsoever! 😂😂 I am up in the sticks more north now. Princeton area 😮😊 Nice to meet another Idahonian 🎉🎉😊😮

Great shooting!!! I was watching this last night. Trying to decide whether I wanted to post my target or not. I need to get some better ammo though. Thanks for posting your video. Definitely gives guys something to shoot for. That guy shooting the 10/22, just tore it up though, man... If I remember right, he said he only has $474.00 in that rifle, and using a cheap Burris AR scope to boot.. Wondering where rimfireSS and Josh are hiding?

Thanks! You should definitely post it. its a fun target. And yea, I've thought about pulling out my best lot and trying for a score of over 100 but I gotta save it for some competitions unfortunately.
@lmbear8 ай бұрын
Very nice. I agree about saving ammo, but it's only 25 shots. The ammo I used is old Federal Gold Medal Match: made in 1992. The US shooting team used it in the 1992 summer Olympics, in Barcelona Spain, where the US brought home the gold and silver medals. This is a fun shoot. Good luck in your competitions. I'm sure you will do well!!! @@idahoarmin

Do you have any issue with the port on the right? I’m left handed, so don’t have as many options. I’ve been looking for a right side port action, for i thought it would be hard to feed rounds sitting on the other side. This doesn’t appear to be an issue for you
@idahoarmin2 ай бұрын
I personally prefer everything on my right side. I'm just used to loading and running the bolt with my right. I know a ton of people like to have the bolt on the right and port on the left for loading. They sell the action in both configurations. In this configuration, even though I can see into the port, the ramp is good enough that I can run everything without looking.

Do you use the high mount to have the chin rest instead of the cheek?

Thanks for the reply...I have a Shilen ratchet barrel on mine too! Mark Penrod built mine.Did it take a lot of work to get your Harrell tuner adjusted ? And given "perfect" conditions what size 5 shot groups do you expect. ? Thanks Again John
@idahoarmin8 ай бұрын
@@johnjiracek893 Awesome! I know a couple guys who have Penrod built rifles and they shoot great. Before even tuning, the more important part is lot testing and finding the best shooting ammo. Tuning wont work if the ammo shoots like crap. After that, the tuning is pretty straightforward. In good conditions with some light wind, my best lot that I use in competitions shoots in the 0.1s" consistently. This is my main ARA competition rifle.

@@idahoarmin Dude, you barely have any cheek weld. And there's reasons why the scope bell should be as close to the barrel as possible.
@idahoarmin8 ай бұрын
@@blackhawk2302 Not shooting a benchrest rifle like this. You want minimal cheek weld if any at all. Massive difference shooting a benchrest rifle vs a PRS style rifle.
@blackhawk23028 ай бұрын
@@idahoarmin Incorrect. That makes accuracy worse. Few benchrest guys mount them that high because of the wrong belief that it will eliminate heat mirage. You're not firing fast enough to begin with to generate that kind of heat. Not wanting any cheek weld is just silly. Your stability isn't as good no matter which way you try to rationalize it. And if you're doing it because of the bolt throw, then your setup is f'd up to begin with.
