my first LAR 160 would not turn on unless batteries were at 100% and would stop after about 1hr. Sent unit in for repair, Stabila replaced it. New unit did the same thing. when spinning, both units sounded rough, like un greased bearings. I returned the new unit and bought a LAR 300, HUGE difference in quality. Note: the 160 is stamped made in China, the 300 Germany.

Two things, 1) it should really have a fine adjustment mechanism with a turn dial on the elevation stick, this is a beeping PITA to dial in. Second, get a Moasure and it will give you a 3D map of your work area which you can import into your CAD and do super precise planning on your computer. Lasers still have a place but motion measurement is a real game changer.

Hey Dr Decks.... Got one for you or okay Im a Finish carpenter I understand your trade work is decks. . I get asked do i do roofs, build houses, install crash barriers in a warehouse in front of the racks, sure i do all the time. When one thinks finish doesnt that mean near done? Interior painting, installing any type of door, trim, and similar. Do i climb on a roof and replace shingles not hardly , install crash barriers in a warehouse ya us finish carpenters use a jack hammer to set metal barriers all the time. keep up your video's, i like the content on Martinez hammers , and others, your a You tube celeb.

Hi I have this for less then a year today I turned it on and both tilt and man buttons are flashing and the laser is not set leveling Any ideas how to get it so self level

The price point on this laser is way too high for a homeowner. Fortunately, I expect that there will be an equivalent product for a tiny fraction of the price within a year or so and I think I can wait. Fact is that there are many lasers on the market that are much more suitable for homeowners like me who are involved in a deck rebuild.
