This would have taken 5-10 mins tops in LA. Talk to the guy, doesn't work = tazer. All LASD deputies and most LAPD carry tazers, in this case would have brought the call to a non-lethal resolution quicker.

Yes, all that for a knife. When you're visiting NYC and this guy grabs your mother hostage, you'll be asking why the police didn't do this before he had a chance to take her.

If its only a minor vehicle accident and no one is injured and you only need a report for insurance, you'll be waiting for about 2 hours for an officer to arrive. In fact, dozens of them will drive past the incident and not even slow down.... I was robbed at gun point once, dialed 911 as I handed over my money and without even saying anything on the phone, the police were already arriving as the thief was turning the corner. The ironic thing was, I had a gun on me at the time but it wouldn't have been safe to use at that moment. Sometimes the best thing is to just give them what they want and let the police handle it. The response was VERY fast. The whole thing from "gimme your money" to him running away and the police rounding the corner had to be maybe 65 seconds. NYC has 40,000 uniformed police officers. At the time of my incident, there were over 60,000 officers.
