Agreed horrible speaker. This could have been answered in 60 seconds lol. Essentially due to less available liquidity, institutions are willing to pay short term high fees to borrow stable coins. Which is why people are able to get a high yield. I would guess they may be taking these loans out for leverage plays long and short as well.

Big institutions in crypto borrow stable coins and pay 10-12% interest toCelsius, voyager, gemini. They then pay you 8% of that 10-12%. It's safe because celsius demands 125% collateralized loans. So if they want to borrow$1million to buy more crypto they have to give celsius $1.25 million. There's no fractional reserve lending.

@@meno7888 Looks like my reply got deleted. I'll try again. Return is related to returns. Higher returns demand higher risk. If you are looking for 100% return then you'll have much more than 10% return which will have more risk than 1% return. Investing $300k in 1 thing carries more risk than investing in 6. If you guard your password, use yubi key and 2FA, and spread your money over 3 companies (celsius, Nexo, and Voyager)... then you should be safer than not doing those things. Consider an account for you and spouse. That's 2 to 6 accounts depending on how many companies you use). Hope that helped

If you're collateralized in Bitcoin, you are assuming all the risk of Bitcoin. If BTC goes to zero, so does Stablecoin. Whatever you use for collateral is the base of your risk - whether Treasuries or Bitcoin. Be careful when evaluating any Stablecoin.
