One thing that no one emphasizes is that when the dollar value crashes....so goes the stablecoin value. So many people in the crypto space will tell you to put your checking account money into one of the stable coins because of the fear of the dollar crashing eminently - but then when you ask them what’s the point of doing that when the stable coin is pegged to the dollar -........ crickets.

USDT recently hit the news as it underwent a major "audit", partly to stay in compliance with a recent settlement agreement made between Tether and the New York Attorney General's Office. But the veracity of this audit has been called into question by many crypto experts. Seen as an attempt to answer critics on what actually backs USDT, the audit still left many unanswered questions. While Tether released a range of different figures, including that their reserves were made up of 65.39% "Commercial Paper", no more detail was given---like the individual ratings of these backings or who they were issued by. Tether did not declare who the borrowers of loans were or what the collateral backing them was. "Commercial paper" is a huge red flag for me.

How does an algorithmic peg work? If the price drops and there is a need to remove coins in circulation, from whose account should the coins be removed? And if the algorithm decides to remove 1 coin from your account (randomly chosen or otherwise), why would you agree to it? How is it fair that you end up being the one who pays for it, pay for the price drop or drop in demand?
