Hi Stacey, I've been sorting my scraps by color and making reusable grocery bags out of them. They came out so pretty! Instead of using batting, I used medium weight iron on interfacing. Since the bag is lined, the interfacing works well to make a sturdy but light-weight bag.

I don't really consider those scraps, they are rather big pieces. sorry. I guess we all see "scraps" in different ways.

Love this!! I have been doing this for years 😀 I have a huge basket of scraps and make what I call crazy blocks between projects. I trim them to 6.5" and keep them in a basket till I have enough for a large lap quilt. I then add sashing between the blocks and have a cheerful quilt! If the quilt ia going to a child, I will make an I SpY list for them as well.

Yesterday, I bagged up all of my scraps and donated them to a local thrift store 😛 So starting today I know what to do with them, thank you ma'am.

This is such a fun technique for using those scraps. Finished items look so pretty and special. Thinking of all the small projects you've taught us that could be made with this scrap-busting method. Love it! 🤩

I can’t bear to waste my scraps and have made three quilts using this method. After piecing the scraps I make squares and use a uniting fabric to make a scrappy quilt.

Your last tip (long strip and sew shorter items to it) is my go-to method. A perfect application for whimsical piecing is making reuseable shopping bags for friends and family or perhaps a pet bed/quilt cover.

Fun video. I don't get a chance to get material that often. So, I've tended to keep 95% of my material for quite a few things.

I like this method vs. sewing down odd pieces to iron-on lining which makes the project look like rick-rack or zigzag designs. Love the boxy look better. And one can keep adding to make a larger piece of fabric to make so many different items. Also I could listen to your voice/accent all day. Thank you for your tutorials!

I love the phrase "scrap busting"! I save every leftover bit that is sewable. It's also a cool way to remember all of the quilts & projects that a person has made. Thanks for such great ideas to use them!! You're the BEST!!
