Joe Walsh had his moments - one of his Band mates in The Eagles remarked "Joe is the nicest bunch of Guys I know." Keith Moon was supremely talented & a larger than life character - how does it go? The Stars that burn the brightest only burn for half as long? Keith burned extremely brightly - but his self destructive appetites caught up with him, like so many other talented individuals we have lost along the way.

Actually Animal was an amalgamation of several rock drummers. Keith Moon was certainly one of them, but Ginger Baker was clearly the main inspiration for the iconic Muppets character. Animal's red fur, hot temper, and wide open mouth while playing drums are obvious nods to Ginger Baker.

No hotel room was safe when Keith was in residence . The water bed in the lift story in a Copenhagen hotel is about as Keith as it gets . Dancing on air conditioning units 16 storeys in the air as recalled by Roger . Keith was mad about cars but didn't even have a driving licence . Ending up at the bottom of a swimming pool in a Lincoln Continental at a holiday Inn in Flint Michigan which led to them being banned worldwide from all Holiday Inns ... plus they were banned from the city of Flint too . Roger is quoted as remembering the £50,000 bill . Paying 9 taxi drivers $100 each to block two ends of a street then emptying the entire contents of his hotel room out of the window because he was bored in New York. . So many more stories to deep dive into . RIP legend .

Hey Stacey, you are for sure more in to the band than most, and the majority of reactions all give the band high praise, but you seem a step above even that. With that being said, I would highly recommend you give "The Kids Are Alright" a viewing, it is a fan made documentary that was released in theaters back in 79(with the bands approval of course). And the video performances from Shepperton Studios actually come from that film(also why the quality is so good), made specifically for the documentary. Sadly, Keith had passed away by the time of its release, but I would recommend it to anyone who has even a slight interest in the band. And for someone like yourself, I think you would love it, tons of great interviews interwoven between tons of great music. It was one of the things that made me a fan so long ago, as the band was always so visual, so their management recorded everything. You just really get a cool peek behind the curtain, and see what made the band tick so to speak. A must watch for any Who fans.

Pete and Roger still put on an amazing show, A lot tamer than when I saw them in the 80's, but musically amazing. I saw in a documentary on Keith that before he died and was sober, at least for a short time, that he would avoid hanging out with friends because they expected him to be "Moon the Loon" and he was really trying hard to stay sober. He allegedly died of an accidental overdose of the anti-alcohol drugs he was taking. They were supposed to curb the craving for alcohol. He had gone out with some friends and did not drink, everyone there was clear that he didn't have a drink. But he kept taking the pills. It's assumed that he lost track of how many he had taken and had taken more before going to bed and possibly had woken in the night and taken even more.

The Who were one of my favorite bands back in the day, They got some grief for the sound of this song and the album it was on; but good bands evolve and we need to appreciate their creative efforts for what they are, not try to keep them in a pigeon hole. We see the same thing happening with The Warning to some extent, although most of their fans appreciate their new directions, Speaking of which, it makes me very sad that Keith and John aren't around to jam with Pau and Ale; that would have been an awesome experience. I sometimes feel like Pau is channeling Keith, and Ale is cool as a cucumber playing bass, much like John, although she moves around more. And I bet Dany could hold her own with Roger and Peter.
