I have 1 one tenth year of the mouse coin in my stack of sovereigns but the difference in size plays on my mind always!!! It’s a beautiful coin but I just wish it was a sovereign!!!!!

Yeah tenths are nice but a little small to appreciate the details. Half sovs are a good option as they have a bigger diameter than tenths whilst being only slightly more expensive and having more gold

Great advice man. Im working on bringing up my silver base stack to my personal goal of 1000 Oz's and only about halfway there, before switching over to primarily getting gold but I love my fractionals. Quarter Ozs are my sweet spot so far. Some absolutely gorgeous pieces man

You're not going to make a profit on it but it is an investment for someone who blows through money on something like cigarettes or alcohol which you're never getting anything back from. At least this is something you can't spend or consume. It'll always be there if you should need to raise some funds.

In France, the 20 Francs rooster has a premium around 6%. Perfect for investment even if I don't find this coin as beautiful as Britannia (11% premium in France)

I get Half Sovereigns $15 USD over melt and $30 for Full. Way better premiums than silver or gold 1/10 coins.

You folks in the UK pay VAT on silver but here in the US the premium on silver eagles is ridiculous so that's a wash. I'm trying to buy more hold...half sovereigns don't seem to be as good a deal here as the sovereigns are but it's something to look into. Good tips.

Yeah at least you can get bars or rounds for more reasonable premiums I guess. I've heard even the gold eagle premiums are getting up there?

Yes all the eagle premiums are thru the roof. Over here maple leafs are often a better deal than eagles.

Todays prices i swithed to full sovereigns from 1/4 oz coins not much of a difference in the weight couple of grams

Great advice again. Do you know if there is something on the market at the moment to house/show bullion Sovereigns and 1/4 oz Britannias in the blister packs? RM say they don't have anything !!

Potentially on something like a mini easel. Searching something like 'coin display easel' might be an option. Otherwise perhaps some kind of photo album or an album for collectible cards. There are boxes by the likes of Pamp or Valcambi that the blistered bars come in bulk from the mints too.

Where spot is currently after its recent rise their 'intrinsic' value sits about £190 now so likely to be paying about £200

Currently half sovs scrap price is £187 so to be honest you'd be doing well to get them sub 200 right now from the main dealers

The cheapest place I've found to buy silver Britannias in the UK Is Atkinson Bullion and I did the math. Buying 1oz silver Britannia with Brexit tax and premiums it works out 40% which is ridiculous. Also the milk spotting is an issue with modern silver Britannias. So I will not be buying any Britannias again unless the Royal mint buck their ideas up and the UK abolishes the Brexit tax. And I doubt either of those are going to happen.

When you buy coins and it comes in the plastic case, do you check them to make sure they are real?

Yes. Firstly buy from reputable sources to minimise risk, 2nd I check everything visually, then with the Sigma and or XRF machine, if they're not sealed in a slab then the usual weight and dimensions too. Good practice even if buying from reputable sources, just incase.

You need to get some Eagles or Buffaloes. Here in the states, we have every type of Gold coins.
