I'm so sick of all the Crybaby Snowflakes worried about you doing your revivals. We all know that's what built your channel. It's VGG bread and butter if you will. It's obviously not going away. Neither is Derek doing some racing. He was probably racing dirt track 2nd gen Camaros years before Utoob was invented. So chill out yall let the man enjoy life....we all only live once and he's put in the work to put himself in this position. Do any of you think Peak would be having him doing commercials because he dug a 4 door hooptie out of the grass and hooked up a water bottle with gas to a 2 barrel carb? No 👎 I personally subbed when I seen him build the independence for a race/burnout car. It's kinda like Demo Matt's other channel and not doing construction and ppl unsubbing. I think Derek should make a similar video. Telling all the ❄️ the hard truth. Thanks for bringing us along Derek for your journey in life. Looking forward to future content with the boys from building/modifications their first trucks to their first race cars!!!! Maybe even get the ol' ball n' chain a burnout car...maybe OG Independence? Edit while you're down in Florida TJ just built DrTuneEmAll just built his 69 Chevelle

I've been reporting these spam accounts as much as I see them. Also, for every 1 person complaining about revivals there's 10 of us that have been following since before you went full time and are just peachy with all that you're doing. Yes, keep revivals going but you're still doing more than you were before being a full time KZbinr so rest easy guy. We'll survive.

I don’t know your feelings on the whole wreck business and they would yours, but thank you for not throwing Kev under the bus on your vid. I can imagine how raw nerves are at the moment and I’ve seen a lot of bad press being thrown his way since Bristol. At the end of the day it’s racing and even top flight drivers get things wrong. I want to finish by saying as a Brit living the other side of the pond, if it wasn’t for VGG I wouldn’t have even known about KSR but have come to enjoy his channel as much as I do yours. Now, hearing your talk about it and how much it means to you, I’m totally for you retiring the old girl. Maybe you could put the drivetrain in another less rotten Chevelle and wrap it like this one to keep it ripping to honor it. An Independence jr would be sick. My point is, no matter what you do Derek, we support you and what you do for us, the people who love this channel.

Derek, if you happen to see this let me just say that you have single handedly inspired me to chase my passions in life. At first I wanted to work on old cars and restorations to put it on the Tubes of You, but don't quite have enough of those green printed things to do that yet. But I recently finished a low budget resto on my 80's Camaro and have been using it to try and find a job working at various performance shops. Thank you for that. On another note, Independence has become an icon. My vote would be to bring her home, put in some TLC to bring her roughly back to where she was before the one rear quarter came off. Throw the airbrushed 454 back in with matching valve covers and let the old girl be. Then maybe at some point you could grab a little bit bigger trailer, that way you could bring the new burnout car to compete, and bring Independence out still to let everyone see and appreciate the old girl.

I have got to say how completely blown away I am at the overall lack of concern shown amongst competitors for one another!! Even more mind bottling to me is that some of the competitors seem proud of their ability to be rude and not show common courtesy, morals, or values. Causing a wreck or being in a wreck is not an accomplishment nor is it what the sport of racing is about. That being said........ I would like to applaud Derek for being an incredible Human and an all-around genuinely great person. I am a huge fan and I think that you and your family are absolutely amazing people. I appreciate everything you all do and the sacrifices you and your family make for your fans. After the race was finished, you were the only person there who cared and expressed concern over the other driver's wellbeing as well as concern for the cars being damaged. In my opinion......... this is what sets you apart and puts you in a category of your own which is hand over fist better than most. This is also why you have such a loyal fan base and the main reason why the people who are your fans (myself included) choose to support you and watch all of your videos. You are an incredibly down to earth, caring and generous person Derek and please dont ever let that change. You genuinely care about our country and support our armed forces and first responders........ You are a great father and husband and a true family man............You inspire and motivate people beyond what you are even aware of and this world needs more people like you in it!! I have a huge respect for you and Jessica and your boys.......... Keep on doing what you do and just keep on being you! Thank you for all that you do and know that it is much appreciated!

First, as a veteran myself, I really appreciate everything you all do for charity. I think the hot setup is to find a clean Chevelle from the Southwest, as there won't be the rust issues that the Independence has. Or, put the Independence Powertrain/driveline into the Monte Carlo. That would make a nice burn out car, and, you already have the car, so it's a win-win.
@johnhpalmer60982 жыл бұрын
Agree, find another Chevelle, preferably another '72 and either swap the body onto the present frame/driveline or move the driveline to it and keep the paint scheme going as much as possible. I'd leave the Monte Carlo as is as it's got it's place as a tribute car to the 70's.

Hey Derek my advice on what to do about Independence: pull the driveline brakes steering and suspension, preserve what's left of the shell, straighten and repair to the best of your abilities. Maybe the way around saving what's left of the shell would be to make your own quarters rockers and pillars in behind what's there to brace the original body pretty much put a body under that one or vice versa. Sure after the body is "rebuilt" just throw a big block mopar in it nothin fancy with a 727 behind it keep the rear gears and throw a line lock in it. Turn it into a streetable burnout car, it could be in the rotation of your daily drivers. Because of you and those that helped you with it along your way that body is a piece of motor sports history, one day it could be in a museum. Just my advice, I'm a long time fan of your channel and what you do. Keep on saving old rigs and of course bringing the thunder.

I say straighten her out, swap in a decent powertrain, and pull her out ever now and then. She deserves that.

Derek, I rarely comment on youtube vids, but you sir, you inspire me to comment. Yes, your assessment of some of those "KZbinr" types is 100% correct. All I can say is, you and Jessica keep doing what you are doing, keep enjoying life, keep raising those boys right, and it will all work out.

That was the best time ever, think I will watch that ONE MORE TIME. Thanks to all , Independence will ride again. ( with new parts). GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸. THANKS VGG

I really enjoyed watching. I love watching VGG reminds me of my younger days as a profssional mechanic and dirt tracker in S E Kansas. Work injury ended both basically. Would love to run the ovals again even asphalt, but fund shortage stops it.

Just said hi back to him. LMAO! Smiled the entire episode. Keep Independence and swap a basic small block for driving. The body panels are cheap and Chevelles are easy to work on. Patch it and show it. We all love that car! 😊✌️

Derek, I just want to thank you for continuing to bring many smiles to my face with all you do. The variety of cars, and the continued drive to get them back on the road is awesome! Keep it up! In regards to Independence, I support a second Independence. Find another Chevelle, fix on er with some psssshhtt, and retire the original body in the tree row. Paint can be replicated. Memories are not as easily replicated

Glad you had some good days in Bristol. Looks like you had a blast. Another vote for Independence 2.0 with a replacement body on the original chassis. Take one side of the old 1.0 and mount it in the shop for wall art to remember her by. She got a second life thanks to you and you brought a lot of fun to so many people with her.

This was such an awesome event, my wife and I drove down from Pittsburgh and enjoyed every minute. Independence looked awesome out there, a well earned trophy and a hell of a send-off if you do retire the body. It was great to finally meet you! God bless you, your family, the USA and all who serve in any capacity! 👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🏁 also, we wrote in Chad as one of our favorite people on the event comment card 😄 - suburban guy

Absolutely amazing Derek! I've been a long time follower and I've always enjoyed your content and your creativity. Someone else has already said this but the way that you do your videos your personality the way you speak and the connection that us's viewers have with you as unlike 99.86% of anyone else out there doing it. Such a gentleman and a pleasure to watch and as weird to say I kind of feel like I know you and I'm proud of it!

straighten it out and run it.... weld the damn body together who cares, don't retire the body, I love the rustic look and its what makes the independence Chevelle.

A nice memorial in the yard with a big flag pole flying ol’ glory and independence sitting at the bottom and a nice new chevelle to carry the legacy.

When you were doing the walk-around of the Independence Chevelle aftermath, I could tell that you were genuinely upset about it.... not gonna lie, I was a little choked-up myself. But honestly, letting the old girl rest in peace and creating a "new Independence" might just be the way to go. Would you want another Chevelle, or a different model to put that drive-line into ? Maybe a LeMans or Monte Carlo (A-body car) ?
