I’ve been watching RC versions of these trucks doing crazy shit so thought I see what the real things are like and they’re just as crazy if not more so. I have to remind myself I’m watching the real thing, frikkin awesome racing, insane jumps and amazing camera work, loved the overhead on the start/finish line.

If you think this is cool this isn't even real off road racing. Watch the Lucas Oil off road series. Pro2wd, pro4, pro lite, buggies. That's great side by side door banging racing in that series. Especially when Brian Deegan is in town to race

@@johnsonandson7772 I dunno, scale sizes behave differently (not to mention terrain doesn't scale either). In aviation you've got Reynolds numbers to contend with, in vehicles you've got physics of scale and scale invariance to contend with (for example, a 1ft long RC truck can survive a 10ft drop and be fine, but a 17ft trophy truck can't land a 170ft high jump without looking like a steel pancake). Desert trucks started out as just slightly modified trucks, then tube chassis on stock frames, then full tube chassis trucks, constantly evolving, making it up as they went along. Desert racing is one of those engineering problems that gets tackled head on by identifying problems, finding solutions, and addressing them in future builds. They definitely use computer modeling for their extremely complex suspension geometry and likely use some sort of stress modeling for chassis construction, but past that I think it's all just full scale building and experimentation.
