His joy at his former job at Late Night is absolutely infectious. One of the best interviews as he definitely loved his time there and all the wonderful and wacky things he got to do.

Mike was/is one funny guy who came onto his own with the daily Wahoo Gazette. It began in late 1996 with a couple of short paragraphs and ended when the show did with chapter-length treatises. And that was just one of his many show responsibilities. If there’s anything I still miss about Late Show, it’s Mike.

Mike's rants in the Wahoo were hilarious. In particular, one about the officiating at his daughter's basketball game still lives in my head. I wish the old Wahoo's were still online somewhere.

1:36 It was the 2000 World Series. The 2001 World Series was a very memorable LOSS for the Yankees. They lost to the Diamondbacks via Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson. That was a really fun series to watch. It was the only time I ever felt (sorta) bad for the Yankees because 9/11 was only weeks prior and still very fresh.

I was once waiting outside the stage doors after a show to see which celebrities might exit. As a loyal Wahoo Gazette reader, I recognized Mike immediately as he left the building and screamed “MIKE McINTEE!!!!!” with twice the fervor of folks who had done the same for Matthew Perry just moments prior. Mike replied, “Nice pronunciation” without pausing or looking in my direction as he jumped into his waiting handsome cab*. Stars, man. *embellished for effect

For some reason, the Wahoo Gazette I remember most was when Mike said he had “bonked” his head over the weekend, but insisted it was “bunked”, because the term comes from when you hit your noggin getting out of the lower bunk bed.😅 And he was mad that bald guys who did it had to suffer the added humiliation of sporting a noticeable cut on their head for days after. A great guy. Former NYPD, too.
