Sawyer being listed as a dragon is an artifact from him replacing Myrrh's class in the data. We've fixed that too and it'll be available with Arc 2 Part 1. Thanks for playing the game!

Dark Knights weren't introduced in Awakening. They're just a renamed Mage Knight, a class that's present since Genealogy of the Holy War. Dark Knights in SoA can use Dark Magic, something which Dark Knights in Awakening/Fates can't, which why they're literally the Mage Knight class with a different name.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Staff of Ages. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of low resistance theory most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Seneca's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation-his personal philosophy draws heavily from Senecian literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny-they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Staff of Ages truly ARE idiots-of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Seneca's existential catchphrase “Who are you to stand against me?” which itself is a cryptic reference to Seneca's Greek play Oedipus the King. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as InvdrZim13's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Staff of Ages tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only-and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

You really do need to get into the mindset of a Redditor normie to understand why this hack is so popular. These people have never heard of Japanese Fire Emblem in their lives that wasn't stuff like FE6, it was completely alien to them. And they can't enjoy these games because they consider these games stupid. They want a game that isn't necessarily smart or balanced or well-written, but that appears to be to appeal to their surface level taste. Because these people live for that mindless self-validation. They don't actually understand what makes for good writing or good map design, nor have they ever picked a book about nightmare. They want to pretend they do so and circlejerk themselves, that's what matters. Staff of Ages is just perfect for its demographic: these same college-age self-important Bernouts who "fucking love science". The entire foundation of the show is built upon the dichotomy between "silly characterizations and imbalanced units" and " things are super deep and tragic bro". This pseudo-intellectual "nothing even matters, I'm insecure about existence, we are all going to die" bullshit that Seneca shits out in almost every chapter is what appeals to it's audience. The hack doesn't actually have the tact to even begin to offer an interesting presentation and discussion of any philosophy, so it spouts these edgy teenage catchphrases. Nevermind the bean-headed, noodle-limbed unexpressive character design, or how the story is non-existent and only comes up when the writers beg you to feel something for these characters so devoid of substance, or how the entire hack is a trendy forgettable scenario of the week memefest with just enough Art of War references to trick kids into thinking they are smart for understanding them, or how the characters have somehow been reduced to even more obnoxious caricatures than before, none of these things matter. What matters is that it appeals to the millenial redditor audience, and that's what's selling Staff of Ages.

I've been waiting on the hacks to be reviewed for a while (the one's worth mentioning). This is already my favorite Fire Emblem February. Thank you for reviewing the Hacks. Alright, act 2 finally came out, and guess what? Every map is horse shit! It reaches around Thracia difficulty for all the wrong reasons. If you want to keep your sanity I would advise going Owen’s route, just so you don’t have to deal with that one survive chapter, but still, there’s this one map where you have to kill the boss, which sounds decent enough, but the boss moves through a heavily guarded route and can escape from the map, giving you an instant game over. The one saving grace for act 2 has got to be some of the recruitable characters in Toska. Edmund and Risa’s bases are to die for. The hack is still a glorious masterpiece, but Jesus Christ did I not enjoy most of act 2. Edit: forgot to mention that every track in this game is an actual banger.

Too bad some of the characters in this game are really atrocious, like Kate (who is dragged down a lot by her god-awful bases), Lily (who suffers the same fate as a few other characters in FE due to having bases and growths that are not suited for her class whatsoever) and Kane (where the team doesn't know what the hell they are trying to do with him, as they recently gave him str and speed buffs, which he doesn't need at all, and making his skill stat even worse to the point he is a complete liability).

I don't hate it, but I don't like it, it just doesn't scratch that itch for me. I've only gotten to where you get Frederica, but it's so terribly convenient, not that the rest of it wasn't, that the rest is easy to spot now. So I haven't bothered going any further with it. The writing feels like it's trying too hard to do certain things and appeal to certain peoples, and in doing so creates gaps in logic. The basics are there, foreshadowing and pay-off, but the execution is just a little too blunt imo. I think it's a good enough concept and that the writers could tell it better if they had some more time, but as it is a fan creation, I'm sure that they are busy with other things etc.

From my comment on the reddit post in /r/FireEmblem: Parts of this were copied from the fangame I've been working on (Legacy of Fallen Stars). Especially concerning some names and character designs. Owen is basically copied from our lord, being a dark mage with the Lord class. Also, his tome is named after the big bad in our hack. Axel is another name copied from us. Landsknecht was also a conceptual class at one point. As the person who suggested the landsknecht class to the SOA team and created the animations for it, I can tell you I have no interest in reading your fan fiction; I got the idea to use landsknechte as an FE class from Civilization 5 (in which landsknechte are flexible and fun-to-use units). If you were to post your concept on Serenes Forest or Fire Emblem Universe, you would quickly learn that no one is interested in intentionally ripping off others' ideas when everyone has their own story to tell. You certainly don't have any sort of copyright on a dark magic-using lord, being that Lussaria (from MarkyJoe's Fire Mumblem), Fa (from Alfred Kamon's Midnight Sun), and Chadwick (from Mariobro's Decay of the Fangs) exist. Additionally, trying to claim both common and mythological names as your own is futile: imagine if every single name (such as Shon, the name of a main character in The Last Promise, the most well-known western FE fangame out there; which also happens to be the name of a character in your game) used in every concept, including those that never even released a playable demo, was off-limits. That's all beside the fact that it's the characterization, not the name, that attaches people to characters.

You're acting like a dark mage lord is some foreign concept and that stealing names that already exist in like everywhere is bases that your ideas were stolen. Axel is a name so that can't be stolen. Landsknecht is an actual think in real life so thats like if I came up with the idea of making a kaiser for a class and someone else does the same then honestly I have no grounds to claim that he stole my idea when the idea is from real life war in the first place. And Belial is from the Hebrew Bible, another real world name that first they are using as a name for a tome while yours is for a villian. and secondly again, you have no proof that they took from you when all of these things have existed before and they could have taken inspiration from that rather then from you. But no seriously a dark mage lord isn't a new idea, I'm pretty sure Midnight Sun did that and that was a thing since around 2014.
