I do love that they tried to dissuade her from moving. Just moving is already a huge commitment, moving to another country is an even bigger one and I'm glad they made sure that it's what she really wanted and it wasn't just a spur of the moment thing.

Getting out of the USA and moving to a country with a public health system may just save Biboo's life and I say that only half kidding. Seriously, as accident prone as she is and as an independently employed person, staying in the US is a huge liability. I say this as somebody who literally just got released from a 5 day hospital stay after our messed up health care system almost got me killed during a botched simple procedure a week ago that I waited for in agony for 3 months to have done in the first place. The entire rest of this nightmare aside, I can't even imagine what my billing is going to look like. I just pray when I wake up tomorrow it won't be to a load of fresh complications that send me back to the ER again. So, good for Biboo! May her tough little rock bones heal well and cheaply in her new homeland.

true, but i wouldn't be surprised if a few of those now moving to japan (like fwmc) eventually switch to immigration visas worth noting kson's a jp citizen now. and it's a 5 year residency process, so kson would've had to have started that process no later than 2019. (relevant bc forbidden knowledge)

Did Biboo live alone already before moving? Because I gotta say... totally agree with Mane-chan. xD The thing I'd recommend to anyone thinking of moving to any other country, not only Japan, is that if you can afford it... first of all, move away from family and live by yourself for at least a couple of years or so. No hang ups, you need to solve all the problems that comes by yourself, and consider you'll only have long distance contact with family. It also cannot be at your hometown because you need to experience rebuilding everything from scratch, probably among the hardest things to do. If you can't afford it, simulate it. Pretend you are living by yourself and act like it - do your own food, clean your house, deal with all issues that comes around by yourself, think about what you'd do in all sorts of scenarios - like if something breaks, if you get sick, etc etc. Who you call, how do you find people to sort it all out, where to go, etc. After you go through that, then you've overcome and created internal strategies for most of the issues that comes with moving away by yourself, then it doesn't hit as hard if you move to another country altogether. You'll still have to deal with the whole culture shock, language barrier, and a bunch of other stuff, but at least you are not dealing with everything all at once. Not too worried about Biboo because she has Holomems, mane-chan and plenty of support... but I see lots of people underestimating how hard this truly is. Japan in particular, I see many many of the exchange students going there without experience on living by themselves, and man, the results can be baaaad. Several of the "bad experience" cases I heard about comes down to that - a lack of experience in living by yourself. And I'm saying this as someone who'd move to Japan in the blink of an eye... xD But my country is so insecure and so full of bad sh*t that moving to Japan wins by default. xD Best of luck for Biboo! Peebles will help her in whatever capacity possible.

work visa and marriage visas are other ways to stay long term. Student visa is way too but that requires more work and is limited until the end of your studies though of course if you find a job in Japan right around the time you graduate and the company is willing to do a work visa for you then you can change from student visa to work visa. All of the non-JP talents are likely staying on work visa. With work visas they'll have to renew it every so often (I think maybe 3 years) but it's not that big of a deal as long as they are still employed. You can also apply for Permanent Residence in Japan but there are a number of different circumstances for it and generally you must have been living in Japan for a certain amount of time consecutively.
