Uncertified AIDS in assistant living facilities make $18 to $22 an hour now someone calls off a traveling CNA is paid $40 an hour by the agency. No one pays minimum wage anymore especially during and after the pandemic. Must have really hit small facilities hard. 3 closed in my area this past year.

hi serg how much is the Basic daily pay for Caregiver in 2020?
@serg_lupescu4 жыл бұрын
All depends on the experience of the care giver and what the minimum wage requirement is in your state. It’s usually between $10-15/hour.

Is it possible for my father to invest into this and hire me as the administrator , then my mother and aunt as caregivers? All of them with BSN , sorry if it’s a dumb question lol
@serg_lupescu3 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question. But, yes your father would definitely be able to invest and make it a family business! Where would you guys want to start your home?
@mahimahi1875 жыл бұрын
Funny to note, I have two ways that I would be able to pay employees or third party staff. Near my home is a firm that handles all the pay role for roughly 80 dollars a month. Luckily, they keep records or that, assist with tax forms and so on. The other route I can see being a possibility would be to hire a staffing agency who hire and manage the caregivers for you. We would just pay the staffing company a little more but its worth it since they have already trained staff that are ready to go at any moments notice. Now, as a random thought, could you do a video of what the entertainment funds should be and if its worth investing money into weekly events for the elderly such as a day in the park, painting, book groups, etc.. I know the answer is an obvious yes, but I would like to know a little more about whats expected from the facility.
@serg_lupescu5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can go that route if you want. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. It does help take the workload off of you from having to do all that. That’s also true.
@serg_lupescu5 жыл бұрын
For the events for the residents, it all depends on their level of care and if you can actually take them out for that kind of stuff. You do end up carrying all of that liability if something were to happen while you are out and about with the residents knowing their condition. So just keep that in mind.

can you explain what you mean by salary versus hourly. Can you pay caregiver as an independent caregiver?
@serg_lupescu4 жыл бұрын
Salary is a set amount per month and hourly is a set amount based on the hour of work they do. You can pay the caregiver based off of the agreement you make with them. It’ll vary from situation to situation.

What’s more profitable to open a medically or non medically based assistant living? I’m a Registered nurse so I can handle a lot of the medical side of things if it comes down to it
@serg_lupescu4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, medical assisted living is definitely more profitable because you would be providing a lot more care for a more broader clientele. You would also be able to work with Medicare and bill them for any care you provide as well.

Serg Lupescu I live in Canada so not sure how different government funding would be. I’m pretty sure this business concept would be placed under retirement homes, which in Canada isn’t government funded like LTC homes are.

Hey Serg thanks a lot for the video! I am in the state of Washington and currently we have a six resident limit. Would you say that I can get by with two caregivers and keep them both happy? I’m not sure how that would work either with a live in caregiver and one that relieves them. Or to hourly caregivers because in either case the caregivers are working 7 12 hour shifts. Or do you have someone come in to relieve them on weekends? Thanks again for the video! Your channel has been extremely helpful and I’m sure it will help many providers to have the best possible practices at their facility And treat the residents like they deserve! So thanks!

Non-medical is simply doing the activities of daily living. If something happens that requires medical attention you send them to the hospital.

And everyone that was on shift need to write a statement as to what happened that led up to the resident having an injury that led to a hospital visit. When any resident has been injured in the home. The owner of the home has to contact the State of Michigan in a certain amount of hours. And also fax paperwork on the incident..

how do you handle if the nurse just stops showing up,, how do you handle that situation?
@serg_lupescu5 жыл бұрын
A nurse isn’t necessary for non medical assisted living. You want to make sure you have a backup third party Caregiver service that will be able to send in a caregiver for a few hours until you can get something figured out. Sometimes you’ll have to go cover that shift yourself depending on how fast you can get a caregiver hired.

How do you handle absences like sick leave, vacations, or no shows? Do you have back up staff?
@serg_lupescu5 жыл бұрын
By having back up staff. It’s important to take care of your staff and treat them right.
@markieshagray82705 жыл бұрын
That would be smart to hire back up staff when an employee needs to take a vacation or sick leave. You never want to over work your staff because there isnt a person to cover the shifts. Now if any employees would like to pick up the persons hours then thats easier than to hire a temp just to cover available shifts.
