I myself avoid all of these problems by playing 1.d4. (Of course, I have my own set of problems.) Alexandra's wonderful refutation of the Stafford Gambit with 6.h3 reminds me of a seemingly similar defensive move in the Albin Counter-Gambit: after 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e5 3.dxe5 d4 4.Nf3 Nc6, White can play 5.a3 (following Lasker-Alekhine, St. Petersburg, 1914), controlling the b4 square -- much as Alexandra's move controls the g4 square. (So her opening clinic is valuable to d4 players as well!) At 11:04, after Black plays b5 and b4, could White play Na4, immediately evicting Black's bishop from the a7-g1 diagonal? It seems White might have to worry about her knight getting trapped on a4, but it's hard to see how Black could achieve that, and Black's attack has been thwarted.

I recently faced the Stafford and beat it with 5.e5?!, Stockfish 15's least favorite way to get an advantage. I figured most people who play it know the 5.Nc3 and 5.d3 lines. Plus 6.d4! prevents tricks with Black's king bishop getting to c5. No Bc5 allowed!!

5. e5 is a good choice, just after 5. ... Ne4 6. d4 you shall not fall into yet another trap after 6. ... Qh4 by playing 7. g3? since after that Nxg3 wins the game. But if you play 7. Qf3 with the idea of Qf4 or 7. Qe2 it should be enough for an advantage.

@@ChessQueen а я для себя открыл Яндекс браузер. Там сейчас появилась функция авто перевода любого видео. Очень круто и даже мужской и женский голос переводятся соответствующими голосами. Из-за этой фишки перешёл на яндекс браузер.
