Stage one install on Coleman BT200x Mini bike

I got a new intake from Go power sports and an exhaust from OMB warehouse, Yeah. If anything at least the bike looks way better.
I show the Jet removal trick, its the most useful part of this video.
Had some problems with exhaust and will tell ya about that also. It is the reason this project is still a work in progress. Ride and performance gain video coming soon. Stay tuned.

Fun times, I have had two other bikes since this project. PW80 mini Yamaha, and fixing up a '13 CRF80 right now. Chain sprocket carb work.

I would heat the area of the pipe at the tightest bend red hot then tweak it into place. Wouldn't even need to be moved that far. Those BT's are the nicest looking of all the Coleman 200s. I should sell one of my 200U's to fund for a new BT.

haha thanks for the EPA jet tip, I used a flat head screwdriver and hammered threads into the jet and screwed it out. I also used the ct-200u style exhaust and tac welded a trumpet header, the thing is crazy loud. video doesn't do it justice. great vid.

I Used a torx head to remove the main jet, find the one that fits tight and tap it in and turn it out .done it more the once on the 196 carbs.

Breather Filter 12mm right on OMB warehouse site. original tube fits right inside and clamps good. Its more than you need but we had it sitting around.

I ran into the same problem with my bt200x. The header pipe hits the frame on the other side. And the engine has not been rising, it is still stock. And I bought the stage 1 kit from omb, was not very happy. For the time being I put the stock exhaust back on. I may see if I can get one from go power sports if they ship to canada.

In hind sight I might go with the go power sports one too. I really wanted the threaded end though. Luckily My Brother had a couple of Mapp gas torches and we bent it out about an Inch. We put it in a big vise got it red hot and put a steel rod about the diameter of the tube, bent easy. Good luck with your project.

Hey my friend I wanted to ask , when installing a stage one kit and torque converter to our bt200x , do we need to buy a new engine too or will the stock engine that came with the bike be good enough ? Or should I just go ahead and order a new engine already because the torque converter and stage one kit is on the way !

No keep the Hisen, it will be fine for your stage one. If you have the CT200 torque converter coming, it is designed for the 5/8ths shaft of that motor. Plus most other motors you can buy Don't have the magneto flywheel to run the head light.

@@princedeepj I have now sold the bike, but I kept the governor totally stock and the thing was a beast. Stage one is good but the power came from torque converter mostly.

The breather is in the link, I used the stock hose coming from the valve cover and shoved it into the breather hose 12mm and cranked it down. Very easy.

So if you add the torque converter WITHOUT removing the governor, you still get speeds of 35-40 correct? I’m skeptical to remove the governor considering the plastic gears and cheap flywheel. Thinking about just cutting the throttle stop screw and adding the torque converter

Yeah I never touched he governor, I got 47 mph with just torque convertor and the throttle stop cut off. Top end actually went down after stage one install a little.

Hmm.. Need my rb200 to be a low end machine with great torque and hill climbing... Not top speed. I wonder if I could just leave the stock clutch set up.

If grunt and trail riding is what you want to do on the cheap, put a 60 tooth on the rear and a quality clutch. You'll lose top end, but you will climb hills like a beast. Front end will come up easy too. Do that before the stage one, but a stage one will help. Clutches are best for top end as they offer less overall weight and drag. But they seem to be either be engaged or not, unless you let them spin, which is bad for the shoes. Not great for trail riding. You can destroy the stock clutch fast. Low end trail riding and grunt is better with a torque converter. You have more infinite control of the speed and torque. You also have varying gear ratios, which is the best of both worlds. You are stuck at one gear ratio with a clutch, only variance is the rpms of the engine. Have Fun. If you go with the 60 tooth wear a helmet, you'll need it.

I did use the plastic manifold. It was the original carb setup with the new jet and the pod filter. Governor was re-attached stock. The vent was 12mm PCV filter you can find anywhere.

Can i ask some noob questions? Do I need stage 1 before stage 2? And do i need a torque converter before even putting on those?

Stage one can be put on any time. I wouldn't do a lot of engine work (stage 2) if your not gonna get a nice exhaust and intake for it first. I've said it many times, the biggest change in performance will come from a torque converter, unless you really want to dive onto that motor.

Have you noticed the exhaust getting the frame hot because of how close it is. It happened to me. After a while the seat will heat up.

I put a silicone sleeve on it after it was done. Didn't notice that heat problem. There cheap pick one up.

@@MrThongVang Wow, I notice mine was getting hot too. I don't have the little monster anymore, but i would consider a wrap. Wrap it and some how put the silicone sleeve back on. Cut it down the middle and use a heat resistant tape to secure it. Good luck.

I sold it recently, more projects. Never got it to 50 mph, but could of easily with a quick zip tie to the governor spring. Top speed wasn't my target, more grunt and ridablilty.

It’s a spring under gas tank just zip tie it closed and use dremel cut off the throttle stop screw for full throttle and in front of the stock air box cut a good size hole infront to allow more air flow. Kid you not it will hit 30 like that. I don’t keep revs high but I can cruise 23 easy. Lot more fun and the mods are free.

Home depot 3" long 3/4" NPT treaded steel Nipple. Its a gas fitting. Get male to female. Don't need to but I added a 45 degree piece to angle it back nice.

Just take it to a muffler shop and have them bend that exhaust slightly...problem solved.

I had a video ready on how I bent it, but the footage sucked. I used a map gas torch and a lead pipe. I had a piece of round stock I stuck in the other side clamped in a vise. Bent easy. Exhaust ended up working great. I also put a 45 to angle it to the back better.

What does the breather filter actually filtering for?

Your engine needs to breath. You can just leave the tube hang, but I’ve heard you can belch up some oil or liquid from the vent and dust can get in. Stock it goes back through your intake. EPA thing.

not totally sure on the stock one , I believe it was .032 or .034 the new is .038. Really must have for the added air the stage one will give your engine.

These are the stock Chinese tires and rims that came with it. I can't find them either. 19x7-8 , There ok, good if you don't want to tear up your lawn. These are compromise between ok street and ok trail. If you primarily trail ride get more aggressive tread, not sure what I would do for a primarily street tire. Just search 19x7-8 tires you'll get lots of hits.

Thats the vent for the engine, engines need to maintain the proper internal pressure. Normally it is directed back into the intake to recycle gases on a stock air box. Without the stock air box you typically you just stick a mini filter on there.

No expert on these small engines Some say you can run lean, bad for valves. It seems like the new jet is a must , to take full advantage of the added air from a stage one. If yours runs good I wouldn't worry about it. I really did the stage one for looks.

Get rid of the stock spring that shrouds the cable. Put on a honda GX200 spring # 16593-ZE1-810. I talk about it in my torque converter install vid.

Is it the stock carb? Mines fine but they are junk. Their no Mikuni. Sounds like the float needle sticking, limiting fuel. Open the bottom and check the float should go up and down easy. Fuel filters plug easy too if you’ve put gas from an old can in it. Maybe the ignition module there crap too.
