FYI to those about to install this kit: this video gives a good overview of the procedure but will definitely lead to an over extended CV axle. Take a few extra minutes to remove the brake caliper, rotor, drop the sway bar, and remove the axle from the wheel hub. The knuckle will be waaaayyy lighter and easier to handle and it is much easier to reseat the axle than into its inner joint.
@lilsevas Жыл бұрын
tell me about it. just tried doing it and like you said it over extended and is a pain to get back in without removing the brake caliber etc.
@coreygladwell78102 жыл бұрын
Why is this video still up? I blindly followed your steps in this video on installing this exact kit I purchased from you and separated my inner cv joint on the first side, right off the bat. Now I have to reassemble this cv and hope nothing is damaged then install the other side the correct way(remove the axle nut etc, see ford performance instructions or other great install videos) After searching, I’m not the only one to have this issue after following your video. I’m mad at myself for not realizing this potential issue while I was doing it but figured hey, I just watched him do it with no issue, shouldn’t be a problem…. Take this down before you cause anymore frustration, loss of vehicle use, and damage. Interesting you have a video showing you replacing an axle due to cv failure….
@brownhistorymonth2 жыл бұрын
When in the air remove CV Axle nut first, take off the top nuts off also, and take off the bottom nuts of the strut but don’t remove yet. I would personally grab a string or strap to hold the hub assembly from falling once you remove everything else. If you do it this way it makes it much easier to remove without the shaft moving out of place. You literally can push down on the lower control arm to remove When you install I installed the bottom nuts first like 1/4 way just to grab and then I pushed the Fix assembly on the top. The reason I did this; the way those holes are on the truck makes it difficult to just slide in and screw on
@christopherbrun61282 жыл бұрын
This is a good example except for not having anyone remove the axle nut. Without removing the axle nut, you will more than likely separate your CV and potentially damage the CV. In case anyone needs to know what size socket the axle nut is, it is 35mm. I got mine at AutoZone.
@Koopa47473 жыл бұрын
You have to remove the axle nut! You will most likely pop the cv, possibly damage without doing so.

This video is deceiving and will only lead you to more trouble. You will most likely break or damage your CV joint or sway bar link doing it this way. I found out the hard way following this video exactly. You need to remove the brake assembly, top Sway bar link bolt, and remove the axle nut and allow the boot to pop free to give you more space to pull out the strut without over stressing the CV joint.
