In case the three position lines do not intersect perfectly through one single point, the intersection may form a cocked hat (triangular shape). In the case of a cocked hat, find the centre of the shape through the intersection of the lines bisecting the sides of the triangle.

Thanks a lot for this great and helpful channel. I've learned a lot only by watching a few videos. I watched this video for more than 5 times and I have one question. For question 1, where you moved the Island's position in reference to the vessel, I'm not convinced why you would estimate Island's position since the question gave that piece of information to you at first place! Would you please tell me what would happen if I use the initial Island's position (40-56.6S and 146-59E) to the plot and calculate the vessel's position? Perhaps I'm missing an important fact which I don't know. Thanks again for your useful channel. I have plan to watch other videos too.
