The grey squarish part of the carriage at the back is a water tank. One of each side. They connect to the engines via a hose on each side to feed water until the boat is in the water.

My dad left the sea for my mum. He always regretted having to leave the RNLI crew.

Never had opportunity to crew a boat, so I sent my money to crew the boat. He don't mind 3am in January for a 20 mile rescue, no my money don't mind one bit! Always put money into the box at the station , could be some teabags or diesel, my money don't care. Glad to give, and glad to help where I can, but than your dad for his service!!
