And? Anarchists *were* the enemies of marxists during that time period in the Russian Empire and they *were* individualists who didn't really have an interest in building mass organizations. The chief criticisms that people had against anarchism were their individual acts of terror. Trotsky addresses this specifically in "Why Marxists Oppose Individual Terror" - so no, it's not a "stalinist" thing. It was a common criticism of the time.

What does the Paris Commune have anything to do with the political situation of 1907 Russia after decades of disagreements between anarchists and marxists? Are you forgetting that the Black Army was in open and militant opposition toward state socialism? That the Kronstadt uprising was as well? You bring up these feel-good moments when proletarians stormed the gates of the Tsar as Bolsheviks and a array of other revolutionary-minded ideologies and then you go on to bring up armed opposition by anarchists in the same post. Furthermore, Stalin doesn't even touch upon Anarchist organization in practice. He says "The cornerstone of anarchism is the individual, whose emancipation, according to its tenets, is the principal condition for the emancipation of the masses, the collective body" which could be wrong depending on what form of anarchism he was addressing, and then goes on to criticize them for their refusal of dialectical materialism. He even quotes one of the most famous anarchists of the time whom I've even read myself, Kropotkin. ". . . We arrive at conclusions different from those arrived at by the majority of the Economists . . . of the Social-Democratic school. . . . We . . . arrive at free communism, whereas the majority of Socialists (meaning Social-Democrats too - The Author) arrive at state capitalism and collectivism (see Kropotkin, Modern Science and Anarchism, pp. 74-75)" Making parties is not collectivist. Forming a cadre of bandits is not collectivist. When they speak of "individualist" and "collectivist" in this context they speak of a certain kind of praxis and revolutionary end. You literally haven't read it, and I don't blame you - it's a boring news article that's meant to be a reply to anarchists in a party's newspaper organ.

to answer both your questions, Stalin incorrectly assumes that all anarchism is somehow interlinked and all the same, thinking they have the same analysis. He unfairly assumes that all anarchists reject dialectic materialism, such as people Kropotkin, because he made “little mention of it in his books” This is ironic considering Marx was more of a historic materialist, and the term of dialectic materialism was coined later after Marx’s death, and two Kropotkin made extensive analysis in his book mutual aid; a factor in evolution.

Bat'ko the Manarchist Stalin is responding to the claims of his fellow georgian radicals, because at this point in time Stalin's job was aiding the Marxist movement in Georgia against revisionists. Also, historical materialism is not some sort of distinct method from Dialectical materialism? I don't understand why you frame it like that? To me it shows you lack an understanding of the two ideas. To say Marx was more of a historical Materialist than a Dialectical Materialist is nonsensical. Also, the label of Dialectical materialism as Dialectical materialism did come after Marx and Engels were dead, but Engels wrote of Dialectics and materialism as did Marx, they just didn't put two words together on paper. To say this negates that Marx and Engels were dialectical materialists is like saying racism didn't exist before we had a word for it or that evolution didn't exist before Darwin had a name for it. Also, on the name "Anarchism of Socialism", it's a provocative name like Rosa's "Leninism or Marxism". It is meant to be provocative and attract readers, to be more interesting than a more accurate name like "A Response to Fellow Georgian Radicals on the Questions of Materialism, Idealism, Mechanical Materialism, Dual Materialism, Metaphycis and the Influence of Marx and Engels"
