Started in the rookie area and headed south, saw some guys hanging around in the checkpoint so I opened up my PDA behind a rock to check my relations with them and before i did that a grenade landed next to me. I am not going south anymore. :D

Been playing Gamma for a few days now. It is hard, you will die, and the game will not help you...at all, but every little win feels huge because of the struggle to achieve it. I became so frustrated with practically every mutant 2-hitting me (boars, I'm looking at you) but I'd say to anyone getting beat up constantly, to stick at it because you WILL learn the movements/actions needed to survive. Thank you for your videos, you've certainly helped me understand the game more.

Boars are relatively easy to deal with since they charge you head-on, meaning you have plenty of time to headshot them. Dogs and lurkers on the other hand, they're sneaky little shits

If you do manage to find Hips Toz 194 keep in mind the 20 rounds of ammo are NOT the regular 12x70 (red box) buck shots it is actually 12x76, can't remember which but i know for sure it is not 12x70.

regarding the campfire system, even if it is turned off using the campfire to save is very useful since there is no cooldown timer, if you try to save in the open you will expend a "daddy-token" (default key Shift+F5) which takes time to return from cooldown (can be adjusted in the mcm, default is 6 hours but can be lowered to as little as 1 hour), besides that the campfire has to be lit (with a matchbox) to save, and in the latest version crouching near a campfire will gradually post-heal injuries. turning on campfire mode completely discards the "daddy-token" system and makes you solely reliant on campfires to save. i'd honestly prefer it if they made a mod that copies kingdom come deliverance's save system which required the player to have "savior schnapps" to save, maybe a lethally stoner radioactive vodka in a lead lined thermos would be a sufficient substitute.

Just playing devils advocate but if you COULD throw ANYTHING into anomalies then they would constantly be going off in the zone. In my mind the dirt & debris surrounding them / under them would constantly cause that. Hence why you would need unnatural alloys to consistently navigate or set them off. Which is another reason why I think spent shell casings can be used along side bolts. Not saying you are wrong at all but its an interesting idea left with a bit of room for us to speculate! Thanks for the beginner content vids as well!

We're in a middle of a war between several highly armed factions taking place in an urban area that is deteriorating more and more by the day. Bolts, screws, bits of metal, car parts, broken eletronics, broken gun parts, spent casing and everything else made of unnatural alloys would not exactly be in short supply. It's silly that you not only have unlimited bolts, but also have to pay to get more, when your stalker should be able to turn pretty much any corner and come across something made of metal they can chuck at the nearest anomaly. So the unlimited bolts makes more sense regardless.

Hope it’s like 50 episodes lol it’s been a week for me and I’m not even at mid game. Only settings i've changed asides the bolts are the fast travel settings to be zero RU and 1hr cooldown. I think its a little much paying for travel to each region considering its just player travel, not air/motorvehicle. Not only does it save me a bit of time re-traveling through zones to reach my personal stashes and loot dump, but saves a lot of game time that some may not have like myself.

You can play it however you want, that's the beauty of a single player game :) Honestly its a LONG game and you will spend a lot of hours in it, honestly you have gotten pretty far in a week, I spent longer than that down south in my last playthrough exploring :)

If you really don't like either of the pistols nor the shotguns or wanna save some points, in all seriousness give the axe a try. Right-click attack will often times one-hit kill even humans. Works great against mutants and even humans if you remain undetected or cheese the not so very intelligent AI. Just keep in mind that even if you've made your way inside a compound using stealth and save and then reload, all the nearby AI will be aware of you for whatever reason. Cystamine is fantastic if you know you have to explore a very radioactive area and you don't have a fancy suit or gas mask. I always take 1 or 2 of those as well as them green tablets in case I accidentally run into a radioactive zone haphazardly.

Anyone else notice that you can sometimes find 1 high tier med in unmarked stashes? Ive found scientific medpacks and stimpack. Its always just 1 but there still worth checking every now and then.

Thank you, another great video that is really helpful for beginners. Question, how do you know when you are bleeding and need to use a bandage? When the dogs attacked, I noticed there was a number 2 in bottom left of Hud that seemed to disappear then reappear anything to do with bleeding?

So bleeding is denoted by the flashing red around the edges of the screen, its not always super noticeable it almost makes you think its just because you are taking damage. The little numbers relate to gun fire mode on left and ammo on the right.

I always pick sleeping pills at the start. They are very expensive in-game and are crucial for crafting meds.

you can turn on a mod in the gamma launcher to return stashes to be unlimited space if you want, i did because i dont like sorting inventory in 10 different chests and bags

Yes I saw someone mention that on the official discord. Apparently it was an effort to encourage you to build a base which was something they added since I last played. But I may well as you suggest alter that.

@@Bandanner yeah the only thing i put in different bag is meat and mutant parts so i can find them easily, i still dont have anything to try build a base or to know where i should build maybe in a couple of days

you can also (eventually) craft and place stash boxes of your own, which are larger than the stashes created by dropping a backpack. I have not yet reached that stage (need more scrap wood, which I have not figured out what items to scrap to get those). for the same resources you can also craft a workbench with integrated storage box. this should enable you to set up your own little crafting corner with plenty of storage spaces and boxes, assuming you can find the resources.

You did the right thing not checking the campfire save box, its not compatible with GAMMAs built in campfire save.

In theory GAMMA is everything I don't normally play.... I don't play old games that are extremely modded, and I don't play games that need so much learning... But I've been playing this game for weeks, even though I keep starting a new game over and over again, because I get stuck with my playthroughs.

I'm going to keep my eye on this series because I'm starting to get stuck with my jacket and shotgun wearing out and I haven't been able to fix or replace them. So either I'm doing something wrong or I'm just getting some really crap RNG rolls.

You need to start repairing them before they get too damaged, check out my repair guide, I do discuss items that can help repair items without having to replace parts when they are high enough.

I'm still on the starting shotgun and it's starting to become a hindrance. I don't know what I'm going to do about my jacket, though...

IMO the toz is 100 times better, it has good range and lots of damage, i tried the shotgun and i got surprised when i tried the toz afterwards huge difference

The big problem of the toz is that it's bolt action and has a very slow reload. If you get in a bad situation, like for instance getting surrounded by a pack of dogs or having a bandit turn the corner while you reload, there's basically no way to avoid taking a hit. The sawed off not only fires faster but also reloads faster, meaning you can often react faster and get the first hit to avoid damage. The toz is very good if you know how to use it though, especially picking off enemies before they see you. But the shotgun is much more beginner friendly.

I get the odd random jitter myself once in a while, I put this down to the mods trying to do a LOT more with the engine than it was ever intended to do. I have not found any solution but its fairly rare, if its happening a lot to you seek help on the official discord they might have some advice.

I've got a quick question for some reason I don't know if this is normal or if you can turn this down but footsteps are Extremely Loud and I mean NPC they'll be really far away from me but it sounds like they're right up on me is there any way that I can fix this?

Do you have any tips for optimizing the game for more modern cpu's? I have a i7-10875H CPU which is a relatively high-end CPU and have been told this game struggles on some rigs as the game engine only runs single core (as opposed to modern cpu which use multiple logical / physical cores). I've tried disabling core 0 in affinity but still get some fairly significant lag spikes and generally low FPS in some of the busier areas when lots of AI are going at it. Any tips you can give which have worked for you would be great, thanks!

Afraid not, I didn't really change much myself, best place to get advice on stuff like that would be the official GAMMA discord. They might have some guides on improving FPS. In some ways you just have to accept it's an old game and engine with a LOT stacked on top of it.. so it stutters now and again. :)

I suspect there might be but I don't know it myself there is the Shift+F5 daddy save that can be done anywhere on cool down but if you need more than that head over to the official discord as its more likely someone will have an answer to which mods to change etc.

I got killed in the 4th minute when I took a mission from a guy in Rookie to escort him and his recruits to Rostok, I don’t even know what caused my demise lmao, I followed the main road and died just a couple miles out of the safe zone. If anyone have any idea what caused it, I’d be glad.

I mean without seeing your game in video at that exact moment its impossible to say, a global event (psy storm/emission)? a random anomaly you walked into? a radiation pocket, some mobs can kill you at range (though rarely spawn there), an enemy NPC. I mean the list goes on. BUT its pretty much a similar welcome to stalker we all got ;)

Probably an anomaly. Sometimes when going through an area quickly you might come much closer to an anomaly than you'd expect because the effects might not have fully loaded in or you were just distracted. Especially if it's a springboard anomaly, since they aren't as immediately noticeable as electro anomalies, the other common anomaly in Cordon.

I see you run a FOV of 85, what is the games default FOV?

80 Which I found a bit weird especially for buildings. Above 85 things start to feel elongated. So i settled on 85 even though it does not feel perfect
