After Aliens and T2, this is the best (and most fun) sequel from 80's/90's 'golden' era of action movies which we all were lucky enough to grow up with.
@RepresentThis3 күн бұрын
The early 80's and 90's was all about action and it was a great period for film.

As great as Aliens and T2 are, both as sequels and as movies... I would watch this one any day of the week and twice on Sunday over the others. Although quite different movies, I always associate Predator 2 with Dark Angel / I Come in Peace. They were made the same year but they feel of their era.

I've had a mentally exhausting week and I needed this. I've said before that I love this movie so so much, it's strength is that it is so different from the first in every respect. Setting, pacing and characters. Danny's strength was that he wasn't trying to be Arnie and there was no question that he was a leading man and had presence. I was surprised that there was a question over his ability to lead with the recent Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2 releasing while this must have been filming. Kevin Peter Hall's physicality was vital in making the Predator such an iconic movie antagonist.

I'll never forget seeing this film in the theater with my brother. The film actually broke just as the predator and King Willy were about to fight. When the film was repaired and we could finish watching it, the first thing I saw was King Willy's screaming head. I thought maybe they had skipped the fight when the film broke. It wasn't until I could rent the movie later that I knew for sure that we hadn't missed anything. There was no fight of course. I love Predator 2 by the way.

I first found this channel when the first Predator 2 video popped up on my feed, and since then (about a week) I've binged watched about half the videos available. I'm a fan of Oliver Harper's retrospectives, and while he covers what I'd call the essentials, the deep dives here are something else. Thanks for all the hard work and great videos. I just hit subscribe (thought I had already!).

I always found Predator 2 to be such a good companion piece to the original. It changes the setting and characters but keeps the overall mood. The city alleys at night are just as opressive as the jungle in the first movie. It didnt need Arnold. Its a strength it did something different.

Still blows my mind that not only did it not do well at the box office (though with all those movies being released either side of it, it somewhat makes sense), but that critics judged it harshly! I'll have to show it to my son and get his opinion on it - I showed him Predator recently (amongst a run of 80's and 90's films - generally the classics in a pop-movie sense), but it was the one he enjoyed the least! (I think the one he said he enjoyed most was Pulp Fiction - to give context to his taste!)
@aldunlop4622Күн бұрын
Yeah, it's not that bad, my only complaint was it felt a bit rushed. I thought it needed some slower pacing here and there to break it up.

Thank you for another good one. I loved this sequel because it seemed more realistic than the original (shows you how much I know) and it was certainly gritty enough to sate my appetite for blood lol. Predator 2 is a GREAT movie, these are still the only 2 watchable Predator movies. I am thinking if they had followed up with a third movie in the 90s maybe they could have had a predator attacking a cruise ship or something and the passengers having to fight back before it kills them all and sinks the liner. Maybe a bit much lol but where else could you go after the first 2 movies? I agree with a comment below, this move is good because it is so different than the original.
@Mirage_Mach52 күн бұрын
As I'm watching this, I'm thinking that Fox intentionally put Predator 2 at that date to make it fail, as a way to get back at Joel Silver. Had it been released in early October, or early November, the film would done big box office. I'm a big fan of this film, and I think that despite the behind-the-scenes issues, this film was well done and holds up 34 years later. Thank you for this video!

It may be the least successful but it's easily in the top 2 and sometimes I do prefer it's city setting. I always wished there would've been a third film with Arnold, Glover and Busey involving more the agency tracking the Predators.

In the comments of "Stalking Predator 2, part 1", I said that I didn't like the movie too much and that I didn't find that Dany Glover was very good in it... Well, I gave it a second chance and watched it again a few days ago. While it was not as bad as I remember it, I still think it's very far from being as good as the first movie. I find that some (or most) of the characters are badly written. Too caricatural and cliché. I'm surprised none of them was just one day away from retirement. In a way the characters were also caricatural or cliché in "Predator" but not to the point of being annoying. I also find there is too much stuff going on. One example: Isn't that enough that an alien killer is loose in the city? Why did they think that adding this Voodoo stuff in the mix would improve the story? It's just an unnecessary distraction in my opinion. But I'll revise my opinion about Dany Glover. He wasn't bad after all. He did a good job in a not so good movie. OK. Now it's time to watch "Stalking Predator 2, part 2".

I find it fascinating that Gary Busey had a life changing experience and ended up a Christian. seeing the interviews with this guy are pure gold. He is easily one of the best and most memorable parts of the film. Also I’m just curious, is avpr being covered. I would love to know how the hell fox ended up hiring those directors and how they let the movie get so incompetently lit.
