Stalled Train Needs 5 Locomotives To Make It Up The Hill, Manned Helper Shoving The Rear Over Bridge

The Hill! Train Can't Make It Up The Hill Without 2 Extra Locomotives Pushing It Across A Massive Railroad Bridge & Up The Long, Steep Grade. Train eases down the hill with mid train DPU and passes the flange greasers near the bottom. These trains are in Kentucky near the Ohio River just across from Cincinnati. CSX, Union Pacific Railroad and Canadian Pacific Railway lead the first train while Union Pacific and CSX shove it up the hill. You would never know that this is the Norfolk Southern Railroad. This is the old CNO&TP railroad that runs from Cincinnati to Chattanooga , Tennessee.
The mixed train coming down had a couple of Norfolk Southern Railroad locomotives on the front and Norfolk Southern in the middle as a DPU. They had to creep down the hill and fight against gravity to keep the train under control. They have it down to a science though. We see the train passing the set of flange greasers. These squirt grease on the flanges to reduce wear and tear and it also keeps the noise down. This train was so long that my camera actually died on me with only about 20 cars left. If you were counting the cars, sorry, but just add 20 to your count. That train was the longest train that I have seen in a long time. It was hot and I tried not to shoot into the sun on that train. We finally got over 80 Fahrenheit. The heat actually got to me. I walked up the trail to the top of the hill and got overheated. There are trails all over the place since this is Devou Park but the trail that I took has no shade. I had a couple of tick bites that swelled up and were itching. So far this year I have already had 3 ticks stuck on me. I'm going to start taking tick repellant with me. I thought that I had a can of "Off" with me. I looked closely at it and discovered that it actually said "On" so maybe that explains it. I ain't never going back up there again.

I was upset with myself after I filmed this video because I noticed that my stabiliser was turned off. Ruined a great video. Sorry. Here is a video of a coal train that got dust all over me and ruined one of my famous shirts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3TJmJiOj8d6gKc

Video quality looked fine to me. And having the stabilizer off will have conserved battery, stopping it dying a lot sooner.

I love your videos. Except...haha I've mentioned before the sound. For instance the sound of the midtrain dpu should have been roaring. It sound like a vacuum cleaner. The reason many of us enjoy train vids is the roar of the engines. Can you please look into this? Love the animals too.

Seems to less graffiti on the cars lately…😊😊😊
@RailRide
@RailRide Жыл бұрын
@@aldo5428 With certain cars, it depends on how much time they spend in unsecured locations where taggers can get at them. No access=no graffiti. For example, coal and grain hoppers tend to run in solid trains between loading point and customer, not spending any time in yards or on sidings where vandals can get within "striking range", so very few of them are tagged.

The train coming up the hill needed the two manned DPUs to help it up the hill to Elsmere, Kentucky where the train will stop to allow the manned DPUs to uncouple to go back down the hill. The train was extremely long and must have been very heavy to require the manned DPUs. The train going downhill across the bridge needed that mid-train DPU in run 8 to help as a braking unit. That bridge south of Ludlow, Kentucky is a wonderful place to watch trains. Thank you for hiking to that location to capture these two trains, Jaw Tooth!

Hello Jaw tooth foreign power units are a lot more common then you think. Distant Signal aka Donny Harmon has a video about that subject. The movie "We are Marshall" filmed in 2006 has a scene that was filmed at coach Red Dawson's house on Barger hill in Kenova WV. It was the point when coach Jack Lengyel played by Matthew McConaughey "All Right All Right" visited Red Dawson's played by Matthew Fox mentions a train in the distance you see a "Union Pacific" loco on the "Norfork Southern" line coming from Ohio. Back then not so much now its common. Keep the shows coming. If you can get a chance see the old Norfolk Western line that was bypassed from Nagatuck WV, Lenore WV, Dingess WV, Wayne WV to Kenova WV
