Sean Juhl, viola student of Carol Rodland at the Juilliard School, recorded the first movement of Stamitz Viola Concerto in May 2021.
Sean Juhl is a senior at the Juilliard School studying with Carol Rodland. He won first prize in the 2019 Juilliard Viola Concerto Competition, and performed the John Harbison Viola Concerto with the Juilliard Orchestra at Alice Tully Hall. He won Kaston MAX fellowship and performed with the London Symphony in 2022.
Chinese-American violist Sean Juhl first began studying the violin with his mother Ching Juhl at age four. He made the switch to viola when he was 14, and has since performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player in venues around the world, including the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Albert Hall in London, and Smetana Hall in Prague.
An avid chamber and orchestral musician, Juhl was a fellow at Music Academy of the West 2021. He participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and the Perlman Music Program. He has served as a principal violist with the Juilliard Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra-USA. A passionate cook and barista, Sean Juhl enjoys playing video games. His past teachers include Toby Appel, Victor Basis, Joey Corpus, and Bela Horvath.
Sean Juhl will join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in April 2022.
