Lindsay, Could I wash and use bottle tops from a soft drinks to put the make up pads in, or would they be too small? I just don't know where to get the bottle tops. I would also like to get the color dusters, but don't know who sells them. I couldn't quite catch the site name for (Judy?) who had sent you some. I really like them, especially for the project in stamp school #7 about faux layers. I also think they can lay a softer color overlay than the daubers if that was what I wanted for some projects. Should I use them just with distress inks like you are here, or can I use them with other kinds of ink? As always, Thank you with your patience with all my questions. You are very kind.
@thefrugalcrafter9 жыл бұрын
+Deirdre Powers sure, try the caps you have, they should work fine:) The JudiKins color dusters can be found at Joann.com currently, You can use them with any inks but I like them for dye based inks.

hello Lindsay, I have seen the alcohol ink done before but I would like to see it done again please! I just got some but I need to get the glossy paper. Have not gotten that yet! I know you can make real pretty cards doing this. I made my own blocks to blend with by going to Lows and getting some cut to the size I needed and what was left I used make stamps. Do you like the foam or felt to blend with? My blocks I used the foam and have one for every color. I made some mini's like you did too for smaller projects. I keep all my blocks in a plastic box that has dividers, it's used for jewelry or other small objects and they fit great in the box. I got it also at Lows. This was such an easy and cheap project and I was so happy that I did not spend my money on that expensive blending tool when I made all those myself! God Bless and Happy Crafting :-)

Tip: I have two double ended Colorbox handles with a square plastic pad base on one end, oval plastic pad base on the other (after removing the foam pads they came with). I then apply the prickery side of Velcro to both pieces of plastic. I put the fuzzy side of the Velcro on the backs of hand cut foam (or cut up squares of blending pads that come w fuzzy backing already). Then u can just switch the foam pads instead of having to buy a bunch of Colorbox brand pads that come attached to the plastic shapes u noted.

Great minds think alike Lindsay. lol Just this afternoon I cut out a ton of the felt squares to go on my grandsons wooden alphabet blocks also. Literally, just this afternoon!!! I used one of the 2" sq alpha blocks and then one of the 1" solid wood building blocks to have some smaller ones. my intent was to use them with distress inks though since I finally bit the bullet and bought 4 sets of the minis online the other day. But, I do also love my alcohol inks, thanks for your suggestion of purchasing those, so i can use those on these new tools also. But, will this idea be ok to use with the distress inks or will i be better off with sponge type applicators and i also got the color dusters, again, thanks for your recommendation. You are my fav KZbin craft star!!!! :)

Great blending info. I would love to see more information on using alcohol inks. I have a bunch of them I bought to do blending on aluminum containers and didn't like the texture after they dried (kind of rough and sticky) so I just put them in a box and set then on a shelf. What did you say to use to cover the tile to seal it? Triple something? I have a problem with the direction I blend. I tend to start in the center of the object and blend out, then I get an unwanted ink shape of the blending tool, or streaks, on the item. I guess I'm afraid I will curl the edge of the piece up if I blend from the outside in. I'll have to work on that. I have a few of the brush blenders but usually use a makeup sponge. I'll have to dig out my stencil brushes and try to use them more often. TFS

Great on the alcohol inking. I would love to see an in depth tutorial on this. I am not sure how long that alcohol image would last on a non porous surface. All the best, Please let me know if that would work. Sean

@thefrugalcrafter9 жыл бұрын
+Tina Fisher do you mean like making a quilt block but printing or painting on fabric rather than sewing peices to make a design?
@zakittyslair9 жыл бұрын
yes! I would like to try it, but I'm a little unsure where to start. (My achilles heel). I have everything when it comes to art supplies, inks, dyes, watercolors, acrylics, mediums, paint brushes (my sewing/craft room would be a close second to yours). I sew regular quilts, and am learning how to applique, I love it, but I don't want to pay for designers very expensive panels and/or applique designs. (Mckenna Ryan as an example). Plus I'd like to make it my 'own'. I'm just wondering if you could just help to get a start with it, I won't be washing these applique wall hangings as I would a regular sewn bed quilt, fyi. Thanks, just thought I'd give you the idea for our long and cold winter coming up. I'm housebound in Michigan for most of the winter.

Another quick question about youtube in general. Whenever you say if you like this video give it a thumbs up, well I love all of your videos but I never did that because I thought that it would only make a difference with how many hits you get with viewing. But, is having a track of the thumbs up helpful also? I want to make sure you get all of the credit, etc, that you are supposed to get.
@thefrugalcrafter9 жыл бұрын
+Lori McGarrity thumbs up are great because it adds "engagement" meaning that the viewers liked it so much that they took action and then KZbin will be more likely to recommend my video to someone searching for a stamp tutorial. KZbin wants engaged viewers. Also when you like a video it can go out to twitter and G+ if your account is set up that way and it like telling your friends that this video is worth watching. It wall helps, we are only paid by actual commercials or ads that show up BUT the more views you get the better chance of that happening. I'm just so happy people like to watch! Thanks for your support!
