Sometimes you get lucky and find the right mentor(s). This video is the best support and guide I’ve found for how I want to not only paint, but to understand what I’ve been doing when I cook, garden, play music, photograph, play sports, … experiencing the discovery and fascination with life and sharing it. Fantastic teacher for me.

Thank you for this, it's very inspiring and educational. Love painting with watercolor and still struggling at times. Your explanation about the wetness of the brush was very helpfull.

Just found you and I feel like I learned a lot already. For one thing I was using was to much water trying to paint portraits. Gonna try again tomorrow

I realize this comment is a year late, but first, thank you for such a useful and well explained video. I will enjoy following you.The only constructive point I would like to request is that you position your camera differently so that the student is looking down directly on your work and not viewing it from the side. Thank you so much

I just came across you for the first time, thank you KZbin. OMG, what a brilliant artist. Your teaching skills are exceptional and very "inspiring". Loved it and love all that you said at the end of this video. Now I want to go back to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and look at the Wyeth's, Sargent's, Vermeir's, because they are my favorite's too. I have a new insight after listening and watching you this morning. Thank you.

I am a beginner but have not done enough yet to. See my style yet I love realistic but have heard one artist use the term of naturism I woul say Wyeth is my favorite but love many artists style so I hope even at 76 I can paint landscapes plein air in watercolor enough to find my style thank you

If you’re not supposed to use white paint then why do they make it?

Its not that you should not use it, you should use it sparingly in the early stages so things don't get overly chalky.
