One of the best movies made so far laurel and Hardy would be proud with the performance of john and steve if they we're still alive to see this. Brilliant movie.

This scene for me really set the tone for the entire movie! When I saw this I knew the rest of the movie was going to be amazing! Lack of Oscar recognition was very disappointing!

Hollywood, as anyone knows, is a fickle community and money machine that dictates it is not popular or politically advantageous to vote for a film like this not made in Hollywood by the big money machine, or at least have their sticky fingers in it financially somehow. No big names like Tom Hanks or Lady GaGa in it with modern songs for the soundtrack to cash in on it usually means limited distribution, instant Oscar failure all on all fronts. Not a youth oriented film either. I know there are occasional exceptions. Yet my 20 year old daughter loved it. Became I had shown her the Music Box when she was young (Oscar Winner, hello?), and a few other L and H short movies, she knew the characters. This film is endearing to me, and many who saw it with me. I had tears in my eyes several times, laughter and sadness. These guys studied and rehearsed in great detail to perfection - that no one has ever done to great lengths before on these two, and also gave it the class that Laurel and Hardy had. You don't have to give Cooper and Reilly the Oscar, they ARE the damned Oscar in their performance. So screw Hollywood. The best takeaway from this is maybe younger people will discover a love of Laurel and Hardy online because of this movie.

The comments on here that are critical must have no clue how difficult it is to emulate a performance like this. Loved the movie - loved their performance. No one can ever replace Laurel and Hardy but they did a great job in paying tribute them.

White Horse Entertainment the one thing that surprised me is that usually recreations are more stylized and exaggerated to be like people remember it rather than how it actually was. A perfect example would be the Three Stooges. As an aside, if that had been a docudrama it would probably have been up for an Oscar, but I digress. Point is, here the emulation is more subdued which I wonder if it isn’t a subtle artistic choice to reflect the dramatic tone of the film.

An amazingly accurate emulation in most departments. A few differences between how Ollie held his jacket open and how Stan and he held hands at the end, and the timing was off by a tiny fraction of a meter, but overall a strong tribute to our greatest comedy team ever. Bravo! Thanks for posting!

John C. Reilly's Hardy is spot on! Coogan's Laurel is decent but 'the real' Laurel's dancing is sublime and must be difficult to inhabit.

I remember watching this at the cinema and during this one scene thinking "Wow!" and then as they walk to the stairs in my head I said "John, you gone off on the wrong foot.". Obviously it was never going to match exactly, but I as I had watched Way Out West that many times I knew the choreography back to front. Not saying I was disappointed at all. John and Steve did an amazing job. Loved the movie. Stan and Babe would have been proud.

Great film! A fan since childhood, l waited 30 years for a movie like this to finally be made and although l had reservations l loved it! The detail was mervelous as were the performances and an exception should have been made when it came to the Oscars. BOTH should have received best actor. Instead - this is the real world and the movie was ignored. Disgusting.

One thing that surprised me was the race diversity in this film. Obviously not a bad thing, but I dont think it's very historically accurate. Check the audience in the cinema here, the box office man in Glasgow, the receptionist in Newcastle or London. I cant imagine a Chinese woman being employed as a receptionist in the Savoy Hotel in 1953.
