Stand Up Paddle Boarding (Perfect Day on the River)

We're stand up paddle boarding or SUP for a perfect day on the river. We leave our campsite in the national forest and head to West Little Rock. In Pinnacle mountain state park is the Maumelle river. We paddle board a couple miles up river into the Arkansas river. After floating back down we set up camp at the Maumelle campground for the evening and Kellie prepares lobster rolls.

My husband and I own some of the land on the side across from Pinnacle. It would have been really cool to have been standing on the bank of the river and saw you guys paddling along the water. I have my own Kayak that I use out there. Love your channel

Beautiful scenery! The lobster rolls look delicious! I wish they sold that kit in Iowa, The first time me, my wife and kids had lobster was on a family vacation to Maine and we all loved it! Our kids are now grown and gone from the house but they still ask me to make them from time to time. I used to buy a box of frozen lobster tails at Costco to make them but since inflation, the cost has nearly doubled and I don't buy it anymore

I laughed a little when you reassured us that there are no gators in Arkansas. As a western girl who has never been to Florida or Arkansas, the minute I see cypress trees, I think GATORS! Love that you’re paddle boarding. Irocker has a pump that will inflate the boards in less than 10 minutes. I use it on mine. The scenery in that cypress forest was stunning.

The smell “like Christmas” might be the Bald Cypress. I had one in my front yard in north Texas and the aroma is great! wish the color and smell lasted longer than the few weeks before it was gone. Great place so near a big city is cool.

They make “river skegs” that you can swap out with that main skeg if you know you’ll be in shallow water. They’re typically around 3 inches long and flexible.

It was just so wonderful getting to see the serenity and beauty of going down the river, brought back so many memories of my younger years. I live in the Texarkana area but Arkansas has always been my favorite area to visit.. the scenery is the best. My motto is travel and enjoy life while you can. I did and am so glad I did. No regrets. Amazing scenery and colors! What a nice paddle down the river. I had one of those little fold out steps. They are neat but be careful. Mine broke and collapsed on me after using it a few months this summer. And I'm just 170lbs be careful. Safe travels you two!

Couple of summers ago, there was an 8 foot alligator caught just after the Big Maumelle hits the Arkansas. Its not as heavily fished, so not as much concern there
