Bankers dont get up before 9h00 except Standard. They have an early morning meeting to discuss ways to make my life an absolute misery( I have 2 pages of the most horrific unbelievable complaints) 2 visits to a branch (now 5kms further as they closed 2 closer branches) in the last month Queued more than 3 hrs. I spent R189 air time with out an answer. Last computer answer I was 113 in the queque. After 2 weeks I now received a response to an e-mail with an appology for the delayed response but NO answer to the question/issue. Capitec answers within 3 rings. It is a Human answering who can without passing you on answer all questions immediately /precisely. Shame on you I opened my 1st account in 1977. I am now retired with lots to invest but I am moving there cannot be a more incompetent organisation in RSA.

Standard Bank has been a nightmare of a banker on project finance and specifically energy deals. There’s an obvious market underpin for energy projects with a strong EPCM contractor, world class global engineering consultants. The business bankers are worse than useless. The Export Credit Insurance Guarantee for export deals to the Africa all booked to Chinese companies. R19,7bn in export sales an guarantee for $200m and they couldn’t fund it. They give customers zero credit lines to support the SME s. I agree. Sim go stand in que at any Standard Bank branch and experience the frustration first hand. The Chinese get more of the 20% exposure to African risk from Standard Banks balance sheet. Standard Banks Tier 1 capital is so low they can’t do the big deals.
